4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Woodshop! Black pour. Chocolate, molasses, bourbon, oak, vanilla and toffee nose. Flavor is much the same. I love how this brewery melds the barrel with a wondeful beer. Delicious!

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle @ Armin’s bachelor party. Thanks Armin and Caleb! Pours a deep black appearance with a dark brown head. Really a smooth yet rich whiskey, caramel, huge chocolate, toffee, vanilla aroma. Big chocolate, caramel, mild dark fruity, date, toffee, smooth whiskey flavor. Maybe just a touch behind the 18 year Elijah Craig version due to a touch less in complexity, but this was very nice.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2011 bottle, # 3022. Pours dark black with some dark brown through direct light, and a clingy tan head. More head than the copper wax. Nose is heavy earthy. woody, cacaoey, with a lot of spirity notes. Tastes pretty rich, very oaky, earthy, malty, with big notes of charred patent malt, raisins and figs, blackberry, and port. A bit more spirity and hot than the copper. Some late hop notes and a taste reminiscent of the scotch barrel beer from Brew Dog.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pouring at EBF’s Night of the Barrels. Pours a clear brown to black with a thin tan head. Smells like your basic run of the mill American imperial stout, chocolate, coffee, roast. Follows the nose flavorwise, roast and chocolate. Did feature a weird vinyl aftertaste however.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 29, 2010 Waxed bomber, courtesy of kiefdog, pours deep dark brown with almost no head. The aroma is a bit mild with notes of caramel, molasses, fairly strong levels of bourbony booze, some oak, dark roastiness and some chocolate. The taste is rich thick smooth velvety YUM with sweetness running from molasses to caramel to malts. The barrel notes do a good job cover up most of the base beer goodnesss. I get firm assertive bourbon and a bit of oak from midway and into the finish. Less barrel time would have been nice.
