COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This entry serves as the core listing for all Imperial Eclipse Stout vintages aged in rye barrels. These include:

2011 Vintage:
Rittenhouse Rye Version. (GREEN WAX w/ "2011")

2010 Vintage:
Rittenhouse Rye version. (GREEN WAX with "2010")

2009 Vintage:
Heaven Hill Rye version. (GREEN WAX with "2009")

Original batch was just 2009 Rye barrels sourced from Heaven Hill. For the 2010 release, Todd delved deeper with the barrel provider and found his barrels (and previous barrels) to all be Rittenhouse barrels. Hence, the alias.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark reddish brown / black with a small beige head. Aroma of rye whiskey notes, roasted notes, and some caramelized brown sugar. Flavour brings out dry rye notes, with whiskey, and light caramel notes. Hugely barrel-heavy, without much other impie stout notes. Finshes dry, rye-like and boozy. Good stuff, but not of the complexity that I had expected from this.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, a smooth sweet fruity chocolate malt with light molasses, tobacco, and licorice. In mouth, a sweet fruity chocolate malt with ashen notes, licorice, very smooth. Xmas Ottawa gathering Dec 13 2013.

Bottle, thnx to NorCalGrowler, 2011 vintage, shared with friends. Pours a pitch black beer with a medium sized, beige head on top. Aroma is mostly bourbon and vanilla, caramel fudge and molasses, with a slight touch of wood. Flavor is roasty, chocolate, oak, caramel and coffee. Thick, creamy mouthfeel, long lasting, sweet aftertaste. Awesome brew, very nice!

Full bodied with low carbonation and a creamy texture. A truly amazing beer that well deserves its rating.

Sampled from a 0.65l bottle @ Top Hops (BA) bottle share. Itís really deep dark brown and quite near black black in the glass this one. The head is low soft dark brown. It has one of those honey noses this with lots of dark fudge sweet- and roastiness. Really as smooth as they come in the mouth with a near cloudy oily mouthfeel. The taste is straight up strong and powerful wit stingy booze, black dark roasted malts and wood. A deep rye burned bread thing in the aftertaste and chocolate also found. Lovely stuff! Could easily have this again! 15.06.2013

Waxed bottle at the Gman .. . Pours a deep brown black .. Mild head, decent lacing .. Look at me go! .. . Solid barrel, rye mildness, and tar .. . Pretty good version .. . . What have children ever done for us?
