COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This entry serves as the core listing for all Imperial Eclipse Stout vintages aged in rye barrels. These include:

2011 Vintage:
Rittenhouse Rye Version. (GREEEN WAX w/ "2011")

2010 Vintage:
Rittenhouse Rye version. (GREEN WAX with "2010")

2009 Vintage:
Heaven Hill Rye version. (GREEN WAX with "2009")

Original batch was just 2009 Rye barrels sourced from Heaven Hill. For the 2010 release, Todd delved deeper with the barrel provider and found his barrels (and previous barrels) to all be Rittenhouse barrels. Hence, the alias.

Bottle # 1750 vintage 2009. Dark brown body with a small light brown head, leaving nice lacings. Aroma is chocolate, toffee, dark fruits, coffee, roasted malt, bourbon, oak, vanilla. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, sweet bourbon, oak, raisins, plums, burned sugar. The alcohol tickles on the lips. Medium carbonation. Mmm i clearly want more.

In short: A big stout with intense barrels, highly roasted, a bit chocolaty, some booze. A straightforward example of the style.
How: Bottle 22oz, 2010 vintage, aged 2 years. I think I got this one in a trade or what, thanks… dude!
The look: Black body topped by a very small tan head.
In long: Nose is an intensely barrels, strong coconut sensation, roast. Taste is charred cereals, burnt almonds, dry chocolate chips cookies, lots of wood, raisin cookies. A bit too much alcohol presence although 10% really isn’t that much for a beer like this. Sweetness sensation is medium at most which is nice. Easier to drink than I expected, not saying it is a session beer but a 22oz was actually quite easy to drink. Even if easier to drink than expected, I liked the beer but I didn’t love it. A bit too straightforward, no complexity here, just a big highly roasted stout with a whole lot of barrels. A good beer lost is a sea of similar beers. A good beer but these FiftyFifty Eclipse are overpriced, I paid too much money for this bottle just because it is limited in quantity and has a nice wax job, and if you think I’m gonna fall for that gimmick again you’re probably right.

Bottle share by Jared, aroma of barrel, dark fruit and a bit of booze burn. Taste is a bit of light chocolate and dark fruit, little burn in the taste, pretty good, prefer Elijah. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A - Dark black with a touch of brown and a finger of frothy khaki-chocolate head. Fades normal. S - Chocolate and dark caramel malts, molasses, Bourbon, vanilla, oak, rye, black licorice, dark cocoa, coffee, booze. T - Sweet chocolate and caramel malts, Bourbon, vanilla, oak, spicy rye, molasses, coffee, black licorice, bitter dark cocoa, touch of dark fruit, and some booze. M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and a bit syrupy with a warming, sweet, and lightly spicy finish. D - Great barrel aged stout. The rye bourbon comes through really nicely.

4/11/13. 2012 Bomber - Rittenhouse Rye. Tasted side by side with 4 other Eclipses. Krunk. Black pour with a nice tan head. Rich BA aroma, plenty of roast, fudge, coconut, caramel, and more - not as much heat as some of the others - with a bit of spice. Not my favorite of the bunch but better than the corn and Fitz. Not bad.

Taken from notes - 660 ml bottle shared by Jeffo and Erik at Sloshfest 2012 - 6 in a row... Nice vanilla and oak character, behind the clear bourbon scent. Charcoal, roasted malts, a bit of caramel.

2012 version. I’m not sure how I managed to not rate this as I’ve had it several times. Pours near black with an espresso head. Aroma has chocolate, vanilla, coconut, booze. Taste is sweet with chocolate, vanilla, spice and light toasted coconut. Medium bodied and sticky. A little heat on the end, but not distracting. Another fantastic eclipse.

Nice balance on this. Probably the best I had so far from this series. Aroma has booze and barrel whiskey. Pours black with mocha head. Roast malt with nice whiskey tang at the end. Finishes sweet and creamy. Thick and syrupy. Bottle thanks to Sammy and Liam.

Certainly the best tasting, smoothest of the half dozen I have had to date in this series. Black, lacey. Coffee but also nicely undercarbonated. Very good drinkability. Bottle split with Liam.

Black pour, little to no head. Nose is sweet rye nose, sweet malts. Mouthfeel is perfect . Whiskey takes over a little in the flavour but still very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
