4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Marco - thanks! Black pour with a small tan head that hangs in there. Aroma is light, sweet bourbon with vanilla, oak, and underlying chocolate with some alcohol spice into the finish. Taste is sweet bourbon up front with vanilla and a somewhat hot alcohol note followed by molasses, chocolate roast, and some nice darker fruit notes that contrast with the spice from the alcohol. Mouthfeel is even and coating. This presents as a bit rougher and hotter than the elijah 18 I had but I like it and perhaps a bit more as I seem to get more of the base beer. Good beer.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Massive aromas of bourbon, milk chocolate, toffee, caramel, dark chocolate, coffee bean oils and earthy hops. Black appearance with a thin tan rim. Taste is very dry chocolate, toffee, oak, espresso, and dry maple. Bourbon is accented well on the finish which is more dry dark chocolate and big booze. Dark fruits shine as it warms. Overall, really nice imp stout with really dry chocolate overtones and some nice espresso notes. Donít really pick up any honey on the palate though. A rating.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Red wax 22oz 2013. Poured a dark black with a foamy deep beige head. Aroma of heat, chocolate, whiskey, rye, wood, dry pudding skins. Palate is good, mediu, to full, slightly creamy, softer carbonation and a lingering aftertaste with some heat. Flavor of alcohol, dry chocolate, burnt toast, rye, burnt chocolate malts, some burnt ash. Not bad but not worthy of the big $$$.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
2013 Red Wax bottle and served in snifter: Pours jet black with a lovely lasting off white head. Nice oak and light handed bourbon notes.
Charred, toast, mocha, and coffee. There is a bit of lingering green apple that distracts... a lot. The mouth feel is unexpected thinner than most of it siblings that said this does drink damn smooth for 11.9% ABV. Of the FiftyFifty Eclipse lineup this is by far my least favorite and not close to being worth what I paid for it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Serving: 2013 bottle, Four Roses variant. Jet black pour. Nice notes of wood, bourbon, and roasted malt. Surprisingly dry on the tongue with a slight burnt character that gets washed out by the bourbon and dark malt. Well balanced and with a very light sweetness coming through. Smooth on the tongue with a warming finish. Overall impression: Itís very, very good and Iím glad I got to try it. That being said, itís not one I would go back to due to the price point.
