Dark brown with tan head. Bourbon barrel character very evident, deep malt character of toffee, burnt sugar, toasty malts, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, a little maple, vanilla, tobacco, leather, warming alcohol, all in good proportion.

22 oz bottle, number 1674. Pours dark brown black with a thin bubbly tan head that quickly goes to a thin collar that leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is roasted fudgy chocolate malts, black licorice and a little bourbon.
The flavor is huge - lots of roast chocolate malts, black licorice, some sweet honey and quite a bit of booze with a bitter alcohol finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, it’s a huge flavorful beer. It’s quite bit over the top especially in the alcohol, but I enjoyed drinking it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 gEUS (577) - Linden, BELGIUM - APR 9, 2013
Taken from notes - 660 ml bottle shared by Jeffo and Erik at Sloshfest 2012 - 6 in a row... This one is sweeter than all the rest, a bit more chocolate and gentle coffee notes. Some plums as well.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Ughsmash (6669) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Bomber, 2011 #1806. Poured deep brown with a lovely, rich, deeper, swirly, yellowy-beige head.. settled down a little too quickly. The aroma picked up sweet bourbon and vanilla overtones, with well-roasted black malts and blackstrap molasses supporting.. a little aquavit and juniper accented.. very interesting and complex. The flavor found tangy bourbon and oak on the tip of the tongue, with warm, well-roasted cocoa and molasses following.. more of the bourbon and just a touch of gin character over sweet, tasty, toasty malts on the warm finish.. loved it! Medium-plus bodied with moderate-plus carbonation on the palate.. buttery-smooth across the middle, with welcome acidity on the front and back.. excellent blend, and excellent beer!

Copper wax, bottle #1814, vintage 2011 shared by badnewsbeers. Opaque brown-black body, thin coffee & cream head. Buttery, oaky nose with warming alcohol, with lots of cocoa and coffee bean. Hot. Oaky body, round, with cocoa and marshmallow buffering the oak, alcohol, and coffee beans. Bitter finish with lots of rum/whiskey and licorice. Rich. Very good.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, Darkness Day 2012. Like all others, oily thick black pour with creamy tan head, aroma brought a change of pace. Nice dark chocolate, sweet caramelized sugars, candied dark fruits, vanilla, bourbon mixing into more of a roasty, coffee, and spicy character, almost like the best of the brandy and buffalo trace. Taste is similar, starting out ncie and sweet with vanilla, dark chocolate, caramelized sugars and dark fruits, bourbon mixing into oak, spice, and roasted coffee beans, finishing slightly sweet, dry and bitter. Excellent.

What a pretty beer... pretty gorgeous in the nose, pretty on the doormat. Dark brown in color with an almost yellow head, it has an aroma of light, modestly whiskey barrel aged, fermented dark malt goodness. Sweet! It wreaks slightly of vanilla. You can really taste the wood grains in this. The flavor is flat out fantastic. Great. Seriously light in body, but with sneakingly whiskeyish undertones. It has a perfect body, silky, smooth, but hefty, soft and potent. The finish is really what wraps this whole thing up. Its bright, spritey effect at the finish is addictive. I constantly want more... and more. And more.
