2011 vintage, bottle #637. Pours a dark chesnut brown color thatís completely opaque with a half finger beige head that immediately settles into a thin ring. Spotty lacing left behind. Slightly smokey aroma with a strong barrel character thatís nicely integrated into the sweet and roasted malt notes of the base beer. Some spicy bourbon but the other barrel notes really stand out in the nose. Lots of earthy oak, vanilla bean, marshmallow and toasted coconut complimenting hints of coffee bean, toffee, toast and dark chocolate. Smells pretty nice but could use more of a bourbon presence. Medium bodied but a bit thinner than expected with a stronger bourbon presence than the aroma suggests. Still, the barrel character is well integrated into the flavor of the beer without completely dominating the other notes. Some dry, toasted oak, almond and faint vanilla along with spicy, sweet bourbon lingering over the malt backbone into a dry finish. The smokiness from the nose Iíd barely noticeable and itís a bit sweeter than expected with hints of chocolate cake, fudge, toffee and burnt toast. Good bourbon flavor with little to no heat. ABV excellently masked making it deceptively drinkable. Not very complex and the spirit presence isnít as strong as in some of the other treatments but itís still very enjoyable.

650 ml bottle. 2014 vintage. Pours Black with slight tan head. Aromas of dark berries, bourbon (of course), syrupy chocolate and roasted malts. Rich flavors of nutty chocolate, dry coffee, a little vanilla, and booze. Still somewhat hot but a great beer. Unfortunately overpriced relative to similar offerings.

[2014] Opaque black color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast, vanilla, wood, char, bourbon, cocoa, and alcohol. Taste of wood, roast, nuts, char, bourbon, cocoa, and alcohol.

2013 bottle pours like other imperial stouts, dark, khaki head that leaves lacing. Nice sweet taste, bourbon, chocolate, espresso, oak, vanilla. Full body that has. Nice creamy eps, booze burn to boot.

From notes. 2013 Bottle shared by Adam, thanks! Pours dark brown with a scant beige head. Aroma is molasses, raisin, bourbon. This is tighter than the 2012 Blue. Flavor is molasses, licorice. Bourbon and oak finish.

650 ml bottle Adam Jacksonís crazy vertical at my house, big pimp! 2013 vintage. With BR 1 in gold sharpie. Aroma is bourbon vanilla, caramel, chocolate and oak. Awesome!

Flavor is real nice. This Buffalo Trace is a nice barrel. Bourbon presence is full and rich. Medium bodied with a ridiculous the barrel character integrated perfectly throughout the stout. Creaminess is obvious and has a nice charred wood and dark chocolate flavor. Damn nice.

"I am a BIG fan of Buffalo Trace bourbon, and this bee, while still very good, makes me respect the amazing Grand Cru and Elijah Craig 18/20 yr blends even more. This was not quite in their league. Simpler, and a touch sweeter, with loads of vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and a good touch of booze, atop a bed of roasted malts. LOVE all the variations of this stout - so much fun!"

July 1st Sunday. I have had several versions and this is better than the average (I think). Super smooth roast and chocolate, medium bourbon and vanilla notes. Just good.
