COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Eclipse Stout aged in special release Elijah Craig 20 Year Bourbon Barrels

Note from the brewer: The white wax 2011 Eclipse was all 20 year. There was no such brand when we acquired barrels, so we called it 18 year. We have since found out that the 20 year old barrels were dumped for a 20yo Elijah Craig special bottling.

Vintages:
2011 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 18/20 Year Barrel) = White Wax
2012 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 20 Year Barrel) = White Wax

22 oz. white waxed bottle served in a CBS snifter. 2011 vintage, bottle # 4685. A: Pours a dark black color with a dark tan head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring. Soapy lace is left down the glass. S: Very smooth bourbon, some nice roasted malts, toasted marshmallow and sweet milk chocolate. Very balanced and the barrel is well integrated. T: The taste is pretty similar to the nose. Really nice smooth and semi sweet bourbon. Some milk chocolate with a great barrel presence. Some light oak, but nice vanilla and caramel sweetness. There is a great roasted malt bitterness as well. The finish is nice and sweet. M: Medium bodied with a medium low carbonation. Very creamy mouthfeel with a sweet finish. O: The is definitely the best of Eclipse variants. Great barrel presence and everything is perfectly integrated. Very nice. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-07-2012

(Bottle) Pours near black with a small head. The aroma holds woodshop, vanilla, dill, honey and dark bready malt. The flavour is medium sweet to heavily sweet and near medium bitter with smooth berrel profile, honey, balanced malt and vanilla. The mouthfeel soft, smooth and velvety with a light carbonation. Near full bodied. Fantastic.

Thick oily black body with a small beige head. Powerful nice aroma. Chocolate, oak, vanilla and a bit fruity. Oh yeah I can sip on this all evening. What a lovely brew. Nice balance. Chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla and mild fruity flavor. More please. Dangerously well masked alcohol. White wax.

"FiftyFifty is a good brewery with hit and (more often) miss service, but damn do they know how to make a stout. The iced eclipse and now this, the (older) elijah craig eclipse have been two of the best beers I’ve had in 2012. I need me some of this bourbon! Great balance between the wonderful sweet bourbon aromas, vanilla, malted chocolate, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and some bittersweet hops in the aftertaste. Super smooth and deeeelicious!"

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours pitch black, dark woody head. Big butterscotch, banana, coconut and toffee aroma. Palate parades plenty of said flavours, vanilla bean, more spice like cinnamon and clove. Lots of caramel across the finish. Yeah I’m fucking done!

Bottle at Mane Liquor Eclipse tasting. 2012 version. Pours dark brown with a sticky tan head. This is definitely one of the best Eclipse’s of the night if not the best. A bouquet of banana, milk chocoalte, oak, vanilla, honey treacle, coconut and woody spice. Great lengthy spice on the finish. An absolute stunner

Draft at brewery on July 15, 2014. A ton of vanilla and booze in the nose. A BLAST of vanilla in the flavor. Just an outstanding chocolate and vanilla combination coming through. Very smooth and very little sign of the alcohol, all well done here.
