Sampled at the brew house this past summer. Pours brown and clear. The smooth hoppy flavor is nice and malts are crisp.

"A nice slightly stronger and more robus than usual american brown ale. a healthy dose of dry roasted malts are up front and center with some light floral hopping, caramel and chocolate. pretty good for a brown."

Draft at brewery. Moderate toast with dark bread notes. No hops really. Some grainy harsh bitterness. Taste reveals some coffee as it warms up. ok but nothing great.

Tap at the brewpub as Charles B. Brown. Pours very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is nutty chocolate. Med body. Flavor is nutty, and there’s rather "creamy" chocolate. It’s just a little nut bitter. Mild nut greasiness. Good brown.

On tap. Pours with a mostly clear, deep mahogany hue with a tan head that fades but leaves good lace. Aromas are of big and robust malt, light dark fruit, a bit raisiny like Special B, leathery, spicy, lightly herbal, some grapenut like malt character. Flavors are toasty, lightly coconut like, raisiny, highly toasted malt, light melanoidins, medium sweet. Off dry, toasty, medium carbonation, medium-full bodied.

Dark brown pour with a khaki head. Nice chocolate aroma. Roasted malt, toasted nuts, earthy hops, and a hint of coffee. Light sweetness. The flavor is quite roast and chocolate forward. Cocoa powder, coffee, nuts, and earth. A bit on the bitter side, light molasses sweetness, and a dry finish.

At FWIBF, Brown pour with a tannish head. A lot of nuttiness involved (no pun intended) with some cocoa in there as well. Taste has some sweetness with malty chocolate and the roasted nuts are back again. Overall a pretty good brown ale.

Rich brown pour wiith a beige head. Strong presence of roasted nuts, toasted pumpernickel bread and maybe a hint of cocoa. Flavor is sweet up front, some lactose sugar notes, roasted nuts and a bit of a bitter finish.

Draft at Firestone-Walker beer fest. Clear chestnut brown color with a great lasting light khaki head. Awesome aroma, very nutty with cocoa. The flavor is also very nutty with a lot going on. Hazelnut stands out. Medium-bodied with a great dryness and subtle carbonation. Really great brown ale. FiftyFifty is crushing it.
