3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 SDalkoholic (1812) - Chula Vista, California, USA - MAY 28, 2013
Bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar: Created a fizzy and sizzling layer of head which rapidly broke apart leaving a tiny of patch on foam that rested on top of a medium brown colored liquid. As for the aroma, my nose detects a rich base of caramelized malts that have strong resemblance in scent to toffee, but there isn’t a lot of Belgian yeast to be found. The flavor is subtle with a smooth balanced profile that has a combination of lightly toasted caramel like malt with only a slight hint towards a spicing of Belgian yeast. Overall though, this falls short of being a recipe to truly remember, but it was okay tasting and was worth the price.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Guerde (1077) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - MAR 27, 2013
(bomber from bhensonb thanks Bill!) Have the black cap here, and boy does the beer pour a cloudy murky brown color with a very thin off-white head. Gotta award a three as it doesn’t really look that appealing. I enjoy the aroma, but it is pretty odd, with plenty of raisin surging forth accompanied by a heavy dose of caramel that’s followed up with a surprising scent of stewed tomatoes. Starts to smell like my parents’ house during canning season. Some strawberry shows up alongside some bread which further adds to the complexity. The flavor, however, is not all that complex, with only some tart raisin-like flavors showing up before yielding to a semi-dry minerally finish. There’s a little bit of lingering caramel and dark fruit, but not strong enough to make any significant impression. The finish really falls apart in fact. Overall either age hasn’t treated this beer well, or it wasn’t all that good to begin with.

22oz bottle pours a hazy, caramel amber. Nose of raisin and metal. Flavor of malt and rusty nails. Oxidized and gross.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 TEJA (1158) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 12, 2012
Thinn brown lace. Clowdy brown color. Strange aroma of both violets and caramell. Sweet, sweet and more sweet!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 5000 (5000) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - APR 2, 2012
Bottle:   Dirty caramel, darker, thin sudsy off-white head, sparce lacing.   Dark bready aroma, dark pitted fruit, lots of raisin on the nose.   Peppery start, raisin, dark pitted fruit, but not a lot of body.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Does hide its 11% very well.   Very minor mineral like flavor on the backside.   Not a lot of depth, but has a decent raisin and dark pitted fruit profile.   Lots of brown sugar as well, even a little burnt.   Decent, but a little simple.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 BeerBoxer (232) - Sacramento, USA - JAN 23, 2012
pours copper brown with a light fizz. Aroma is sweet and raisin like. Flavor is candied sugar or brown sugar? Has a raisin finish.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 dnstone (2000) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 7, 2011
Sweet aroma. Browninsh color with an off-white head. Moderately sweet, a bit of off-flavors, think this might be turning.

Dark, muddy, cider-brown, with burnt caramel cream-foam top. Belgian esters and phenols greet the nose - a muddy mix. Chocolate banana bread and a thread of alcohol burn. Again, a muddy yeast mix. Esters and phenols galore. Earthy yeasty. Some alcohol burn. But well melded. Definitely an evil experience.

Courtesy of markwise. It pours up clear amber with copper edges and thin mocha head. The aroma is brown sugar, cinnamon, a bit of anise spice, cherry hard candy prunes and searing heat. The taste is similar with brown sugar, prunes, sweet cherry flavored hard candy (that borders on cherry cough syrup) and a bit of molasses. This is too sweet for me.
