COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belgian Strong Dark Ale. Brewed with Raisins, Coconut Sugar, Panusta Sugar.

Limited Bottling in 22oz. bottles. Available in CA and OR. Summer 2010.

Brewers note: There have been two batches of this beer that have been bottled. The first batch can be identified by a BLACK cap. This batch was unfiltered and if kept at 75*F or higher for an extended period continued to attenuate. This caused the raisin component of the beer to come forward and for some folks give a sour taste. The second bottling 11/28/2010 has a GOLD cap. We filtered the beer through 2.45 micron filter sheets and though there will be some yeast the shelf stability of the product will be much better.

Black cap first batch bottle from boFNjackson...thanks Matthew! - Pours rosy amber with a thin off white head. Sugary heat on the nose--the brown sugar and raisins really come through, along with banana. Really thin and watery, with a metallic note. Sweet and fruity, with the brown sugar coming through. Bready and yeasty on the finish, but the taste is pretty watery and muted. Overall the body is pretty thin and the taste decidedly not concentrated.

22oz bottle. Rating #53. Murky dark brown with dark white head. Strong dark fruit and yeast aroma, sweet and lightly roasty. Flavor has a dark fruit toast to it, light bitterness and an aftertaste that sticks around for awhile, very rich and pretty darn good. (1578)

Poured from 22oz bottle. Pours a chestnut brown with a fair amount of beige head. Aroma is Belgian yeast and some alcohol. Taste is somewhat sweet with some notes of dried fruit and lots of Abbey. A fine effort by Fifty Fifty. I was happy that my buddy grabbed me a few bottles on his way to Tahoe.

Bottle. Pours a murky brown with little head. Has earthy tones and doesn’t taste like it has 11% alcohol. Easily drinkable but not overly memorable.

Bottled. A hazy deep amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt, dusty hops, and fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, fruit, phenols, and alcohol, leading to a dry phenolic finish.

Unclear medium amber color with a small, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, overripped fruit, moderate to heavy yeasty, glue - paint thinner - phenol, yeast. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, peppery, glue - paint thinner, sharp. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110223]

22oz bottle. Pours dark brown with some amber highlights. The first thing I noticed was the lack of effervescence. I had to pour pretty hard to get much head going. The aroma is raisin and molasses sweetness, as well as a faint bit of sourness. The flavor is very much raisins and sweet malt. It’s a bit excessive, and just coats the tongue with a syrup-like viscosity. I was looking forward to trying more things from FiftyFifty after having several of the barrel-aged Eclipses, but most of their other offerings have been disappointments. Perhaps it’s the burden of high expectations.

Bottle. Hazy amber body with a creamy off white head. The aroma is spices, sweet malt, phenols and fruit. The flavour is sweet malty, fruity and spicy and kind of meaty.
