COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sustenance to get you through those long, cold winters, the Donner Party Porter is another of FiftyFifty’s flagship beers. Reminiscent of dark chocolate, espresso, and dark dried fruits with a long complex finish, this beer is good for one of those nights where you’ve dug yourself into a snow bank because the ski trip didn’t go quite as planned. Deep brown with mahogany highlights, the hops and malt are very well balanced leaving one to contemplate the myriad of flavors as the beer warms. Moderate to slightly heavy, this beer is heaven in a glass.

Black in color with a khaki head. Nice roasted malt aroma, cocoa powder, dark fruit, and some earthy hops. Nice sweetness of molasses and dark fruit on the flavor. Earthy hops, licorice, molasses, and coffee. Some chocolate and cocoa powder on the finish.

I love porters but this beer just does not do it for me. Looks great, smells great, but it has a finish that lingers and it really ruined my palate! It almost has a mint taste finish. Do not recommend ! Really disappointed and this is someone who loves porters and stouts!

Draft at Monks. Very dark orange brown pour with some small-bubble tan foam. Slightly smoky chocolate caramel. German black liquorice. Cold coffee. Molasses. Root beer. Burnt marshmallows. Good body for a Porter. Very nice.

Bottle shared by KBL at the fest. Roasty black, nice chocolate, berry fruit, and roast flavors. Rather sweet and creamy. PRetty good stuff.

A bottle I picked up at Craft Beer Base & brought to share at the Kyoto Craft Beer Fest. It pours a dark brown with a tan head. A nice chocolaty solid porter, sweet & malty with hints of chocolate and roast bitterness.

Sugary sweet nose, caramel, very herbal, cocoa, coffee, way to sweet and a odd flavor that really ruins the beer for me.

Bottle from Scott. Aroma and flavor of molasses, semi-sweet chocolate, and some fudge. Taste profile blew the palate out of the water, as it was fairly bright and rough around the edges. Carb was good. Very nice, rich beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Great Porter. Really well balanced, hugely drinkable and the roasty finish is so well integrated in to the package it comes off as one well rounded product in the mouth. Nice heavy, though well weighted body too. This is what good beer is all about - no need for huge ABVs and off kilter ingredients. Just good, honest beer values.
