Bottle, early kick off to browse in law’s wedding weekend. Pours out darker brown bordering on black with a small tan head. Aroma is of smooth roast, vanilla, bourbon, light chocolate, toast, some mild earthy notes and a touch of light syrup. Taste is complex, definitely smoothed out a bit, or we’ll I’d imagine, nice mellow, smooth bourbon notes, vanilla, barrel, chocolate, mild roast, light syrup, some earthy flavors, and a slight tell of alcohol in the finish. Really solid beer, age did this very well, glad I didn’t push it any further.

2014: First impression is a sweet oaky bourbon and milk chocolate with a splash of macerated figs. Faint smoke and earthy leather esters come about with a hint of scotch like peaty iodine. Even a kiss of roasted coconut and molasses for good measure. Shockingly smooth and creamy oily (yes I said creamy oily) even if there is a brief reminder of its 11.9% ABV towards the finish. One of the if not the most integrated Eclipses I have. Highly recommended!

Black pour with a thin tan head and light lacing .... Aroma of bourbon, roasted malts, cocoa, coconut, vanilla and booze with some dry oak .... Taste is of cocoa/chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, dry oak, coconut, licorice and some booze .... Finish is dry, boozy and bourbony with lingering dry oak and coconut .... Mouthfeel is thick .... One of the better eclipses.

Cocoa nibs and espresso aroma. Some bourbon in aroma but very subdued in flavor. Slight malt sweetness. Flavor lasted well after it was consumed. Great carbonation with 1/2 inches head.

2011 edition. Pours from a bottle the color of dark chocolate, and just about as opaque, with a finger of silky tan head. Great aroma. Bourbon is smoothly integrated; malts are sweet and big. Cocoa, toasted coconut, macadamia, toffee and a bit of cherry peek out. Oaky. Beautiful flavor, too: sweet cherry, macadamia again, and caramel for days. Buttery French Vanilla, graham cracker and lingering subtly bitter roast round things out. Medium/medium-light body is a bit thinner than expected. Softly carbonated. Age has done this right. An incredible blend of flavors, big, smooth malts, and the bourbon is the backup rather than the show. Good work, 50/50.

Thin lasting brown head atop a dark brown body. Smells of booze and borne sugar. Very smooth With a laying alcohol burn. Warm and fun. Wonderful.
