Bottle. Dark brown/black pour with brown head. Aroma is really "sweet", lots of honey, creme brulée, sweet bourbon vanilla. Taste is much the same, really sweet, dessert-like, honey, vanilla and caramelized sugar. Palate is rich, almost cloying, with smooth carbonation. Decent.

Hoppypocket (408) - Trois-rivieres, Quebec, CANADA - APR 29, 2013
Bottle from Pier-luc and Julien, thanks! Pours a pitch black with a small black head that doesnt last really long. No lacing. Aroma is full of vanilla, some cocoa, coconut. Taste is still loaded with vanilla, cocoa, honey, oak. Full body and low carbonation. A desert beer. Probably the stout that has the most vanilla flavor that i had yet (didnt have bcbvs).

Bottle (22 oz). Shared by Pier-Luc, Julien & Benoît, thanks! Black with a small beige head. Aroma is rich and somewhat boozy with vanilla, wood, sweetness notes, chocolate, coconut and molasses. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet (but not cloying for the 4 oz pour that I had) with vanilla, wood, coconut, molasses and alcohol... there’s not any roasted presence here. Heavy body. Thick mouthfeel. Rich, complex and decadent Imperial Stout. Good!

Dark brown, beige head. Maple syrup, toffee, raisins, a little chocolate, some dark fruit, hint of leather, bourbon barrel character evident, vanilla.

A - Dark black with a touch of brown and a finger of frothy khaki-chocolate head. Fades normal. S - Chocolate and dark caramel malts, molasses, Bourbon, vanilla, oak, black licorice, dark cocoa, coffee, booze. T - Sweet chocolate and caramel malts, Bourbon, vanilla, oak, molasses, coffee, black licorice, bitter dark cocoa, touch of dark fruit, and some booze. M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and a bit syrupy with a warming, sweet, and lightly spicy finish. D - Great barrel aged stout. The bourbon is a bit more subtle here.

gEUS (1055) - Linden, BELGIUM - APR 9, 2013
Taken from notes - 660 ml bottle shared by Jeffor and Erik at Sloshfest 2012 - 6 in a row... This one is the most toasted and roasted of them all. Hard in the nose and the most edgy in the taste. Full bourbon smell and taste,. Liked it but perhaps the least of em all.

Silphium (3167) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Yellow wax, bottle #1016, vintage 2011 bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Deep opaque brown/black body, thin off-white head. Nose of oak and whiskey; also roasty and inky with coffee beans, but dominated by whiskey. Round, soft body dominated by whiskey, which subsumes most of the intensity of the base beer, leaving softer notes of roast, coffee, and chocolate. Spicy. A complex sipper.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, Darkness Day 2012. Dark oily chocolate brown pour with creamy tan head, aroma brought big spice, oak, nice dark fruits, chocolate, the whiskey comes through a bit boozy but works well working into dark roasted and coffee notes, touch of vanilla as well comes through. Taste is a mix of dark chocolate, toffee, dark fruits mixing into molasses, oak, spice notes, nice whiskey in there with a hint of vanilla mixing into some roast, coffee, finishing bitter, dry, slightly boozy and spicy.
