4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2013 vintage. Sweet nose with coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Bitter coffee taste up front followed by the mellow smooth bourbon sweetness. Sticky syrupy body but also smooth, easy to drink. A great beer but for the price, with Espresso Yeti and Big Bad Baptist available for about a third, I don't see buying this again. It's well worth trying and an excellent beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz bottle, 2013. Dark brown with lush tan foam. Nose is coffee bean, dark chocolate, prune, vanilla, light smoke and molasses. Medium to full body with a buzz. A touch chalky, lingering heat. Taste is massive coffee but not so roasty. Without the deep char or dominant barrel the honey really pops. Dark chocolate and candied walnuts add some depth. This one developing beautifully.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Mane Liquor Eclipse tasting. 2013 version. Pours dark brown with a sticky tan head. Nose is very ashy espresso with distinct honey and vanilla with a dirty earthy feel to it. Robust and roasty stuff compared with the rest of the series. Nowhere near as sweet as any of the other Eclipse’s but has a distinct vanilla sweetness running behind the ashy, almost burnt coffee experience. Solid

Bottle. Pours black in color with a tan head. At first you get coffee on the nose, and later on there appears in layers chocolate, vinous dark fruityness, roasted malts and vanilla aromawise. Coffee, notes of burnt wood and smoke in taste. Has got a nice and soft mouthfeel. Later on some notes of herbs and vanilla appears. Longlasting roasted notes towards the finish with a nice coffeeish ending.

"Niiiice. Most of these aren’t worth the $30 or so per bottle, but $7.50 pour at the source? Yeah. One of the better ones in the line. Coffee very apparent, but not overdone. Mingles nice with the bourbon and milk chocolate aspects that make up this beer. Juuust a touch sweet and boozy, but pretty smooth and damn tasty."

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Vintage 2013 bottle run #2. From Mikkeller webshop. Pours a dark brown with a tan, minimal head that disippates fast. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, honey, hints of bourbon, chili, raisins, plums, licorice, oak and quite boozy. Taste of espresso, roasted malts, dark chocolate, licorice, alchohol, oak, hints of vanilla with a long, bitter espresso finish. Full bodied with a mild carbonation. Quite sharp for being an eclipse compared to the smoothness of the others I’ve tried, guess its cause of the lower amount of BA beer in the blend. Nice, coffee centered Imp. stout.
