4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. purple waxed bottle served in a Firestone Walker tulip. 2011 vintage, bottle # 2286.
A: Pours black color with dark brown edges. A one finger height of light tan foam forms on the pour and recedes quickly to a thin collar. It’s a little bubbly and leaves some spotty lace down the glass.
S: Bourbon and oak with honey sweetness. There is nice mild chocolate, some roasted malts and a little caramel on the finish.
T: Sweet bourbon. It’s very smooth and is integrated nicely with the base beer. Mild oak with a nice caramel and dark chocolate flavor profile. The finish is slightly warming.
M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. Smooth and rich mouthfeel.
O: The best of the 2011 variants (that I’ve had so far). The barrel was nicely integrated and melded well with the base beer.

22oz bottle (2011, #3304) from deftim13, thanks man. Clear dark brown with a small fizzy tan head that quickly fades down to a ring. Aroma is black malt, fruity bourbon, chocolate, caramel and oak. Flavor is hot bourbon and alcohol up front, dark roasted coffee and bitter-sweet chocolate. Medium to full body with prickly carbonation. This one is loaded with bourbon, but I like that. Really nice beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle pours black with tan head that goes away fast. Not much carb bubbles. Tastes smells of bourbon vinilla spices caramel booze heavy. Gas a dark fruits too. Nice beer kind of thinner then expected. Over all really good solid beer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle with some heads at Bills’. Pours a deep black with beige head. Not much lace or carbonation. Notes were very boozey, with molasses, licorice, cocoa, bourbon, wood, spice, and marshmallow. Overall it had a little too much heat. I prefered the Rittenhouse Rye version that night. Full flavored dry finish.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is pure luscious scraped vanilla bean, rum cake, raisins and wet wood. Lots of charred wood and dry aged beefiness in the flavor with a bitnof ash and a dry, raw roastiness. The body is medium but elegant, it comes and goes with grace. Nice expression of the style that I appreciated much more upon a second tasting. Thanks Fifty Fifty. 2011 22 oz.

dark cola color.
Good nose of chocolate, roast, coconut, marshmallow, oak and bourbon
Taste and feel give more alcohol but carmel also makes appearances as well as more of the barrel notes.
Not as thick as other BA beers but very easy to drink. Splendid drink and more like a fine brandy in a lot of ways

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a small tan head. Nose is chocolate, bourbon, roast, oak, vanilla and dark fruits. Flavors are the same. This was consumed side by side with the 18/20 yr. version. This was not quite as smooth and showed more woody qualities. Still good, but not as good as the 18/20 year.
