Aged for about a year after purchase of the 2011 vintage. So smooth and aromatic. The malted base is delicious and light hops and roasted flavor are intense and well crafted.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2013 Bourbon and stout. Aroma and taste are pretty gentile. Had this up against a few other ba stouts. Not as much bite as some of the others. Not worth the price but at least its available.

22oz bottle, thanks to DanielCoor for sharing. 2012 vintage. Dark brown color. Lighter brown, thin head. Good lace. Really amazing nose... Huge, pleasant woody-spicy whiskey barrel aroma. Bigger smooth body. Pretty creamy. Light apple, light spice. Nice bitter taste. Good citrusy hop note. Big roasty bitterness. Dark chocolate, bitter coffee. Nice sweetness. great stuff. Awesome woody spiciness from the barrel. Huge flavor, but not flooring, in the way that liquor would floor you, still super good. Super long tasty aftertaste to savor.

2012 bottle, BR 1. Pours oily black with a filmy head and khaki lacing. Very boozy nose - the bourbon aroma is quite pungent - with a ton of roasted malt, molasses, and some stale coffee. Very smooth biscuit flavor with bourbon, licorice, charcoal and a huge amount of alcohol; hot doesn’t even begin to describe it. The boozy heat grows through the long, prickly finish. A nice stout, but it needs some cellar time to cool down the hotness.

Bottle shared by Josh at Hunahpu day ’13. Sparse notes: jet black. roasty vanilla and dark chocolate aroma. creamy bourbon, caramel taste. smooth and understated.

DocJitsu (949) - Florida, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Pours a very dark brown with a fat, foamy, long-lasting, light mocha head. Head retention is about average. Wood, coconut, and chocolate syrup were noted in the aromas. Heavy viscous, creamy mouthfeel that becomes a little astringent at the finish. Chocolate syrup forward with some coconut and ample bourbon. A very, very good imperial stout. Much better than the Vanilla Bean Dark Lord that I’d had moments earlier.

Bomber to snifter. Looks good; a murky dark brown with thin beige lacing. Smells and tastes nice; sweet, malty, and boozy with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer!

this beer is worth the price... simply amazing. pours nice and black with a firm tan head - that lasts throughout. layered vanilla, bourbon, light coffee and chocolate nose - they all blend so well together - nothing dominating - very well blended aromas. full body with smooth chocolate malts, silky vanilla and bourbon notes with a lingering bitterness. roasted finish with more bourbon and vanilla peaking in flavor. a lot of bourbon barrel aged stouts are way too boozy and heavy - this beer is so inviting and soothing - nothing forced - simple perfection.

Bottle shared by a friend at the 5th Annual Coldest Day of the Year Stout Tasting on 1/26/13. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, bourbon and vanilla. Malty and chocolatey flavor with some roasty coffee and bourbon before a roasty finish.
