4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle, thanks to DanielCoor for sharing. 2012 vintage. Dark brown color. Lighter brown, thin head. Good lace. Really amazing nose... Huge, pleasant woody-spicy whiskey barrel aroma. Bigger smooth body. Pretty creamy. Light apple, light spice. Nice bitter taste. Good citrusy hop note. Big roasty bitterness. Dark chocolate, bitter coffee. Nice sweetness. great stuff. Awesome woody spiciness from the barrel. Huge flavor, but not flooring, in the way that liquor would floor you, still super good. Super long tasty aftertaste to savor.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2012 bottle, BR 1. Pours oily black with a filmy head and khaki lacing. Very boozy nose - the bourbon aroma is quite pungent - with a ton of roasted malt, molasses, and some stale coffee. Very smooth biscuit flavor with bourbon, licorice, charcoal and a huge amount of alcohol; hot doesnít even begin to describe it. The boozy heat grows through the long, prickly finish. A nice stout, but it needs some cellar time to cool down the hotness.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a very dark brown with a fat, foamy, long-lasting, light mocha head. Head retention is about average. Wood, coconut, and chocolate syrup were noted in the aromas. Heavy viscous, creamy mouthfeel that becomes a little astringent at the finish. Chocolate syrup forward with some coconut and ample bourbon. A very, very good imperial stout. Much better than the Vanilla Bean Dark Lord that Iíd had moments earlier.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
this beer is worth the price... simply amazing. pours nice and black with a firm tan head - that lasts throughout. layered vanilla, bourbon, light coffee and chocolate nose - they all blend so well together - nothing dominating - very well blended aromas. full body with smooth chocolate malts, silky vanilla and bourbon notes with a lingering bitterness. roasted finish with more bourbon and vanilla peaking in flavor. a lot of bourbon barrel aged stouts are way too boozy and heavy - this beer is so inviting and soothing - nothing forced - simple perfection.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
Rating this so I remember which one I had. PURPLE WAX. Great sweet bourbon aroma, with lots of alcohol. Jet black, slightly brown aorund the edges, perfect. Taste is more mild than many bourbon aged beers, and less harsh. Iíd call it a ísessioní bourbon aged beer, if you will. Lots of sweet bourbonish tastes that fall off pretty quick, thatís why itís not a 10. The not too thick palate really works to make this very drinkable. But the cost, $30, knocks the overall experience down for me quite a bit. This was a $12-$15 experience, not $30-$33, what itís costing in Chicago. At this price, Iíll never buy it again.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2012 bottle, poured into a tulip. Black with medium sized head. Aroma is roast, malt, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, wood. Flavor has a sweetness that is different than other Eclipses I have tried, and more like Black Tuesday. Complex flavor and medium to full mouthfeel. The best Eclipse Iíve tried so far.
