Huge thanks to whoever shared this at the Rapture release. Pours out a very dark brown, nearly black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is very nice and of bourbon, sweet vanilla, oak, roast and light chocolate. Taste is complex, with a nice mouthfeel. Bourbon, vanilla, oak, roast, chocolate earth and light alcohol on the finish. Really solid brew.

Smells like a glass of bourbon and coffee. Really sweet and candy-like. Tastes good but a bit hard to drink and not enough beer character.

Draft @ NotB. Black pour with tan head.Bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate, roasted malt notes, and some light hop notes that are suppressed by this malt dominance and barrel aging.

Very smooth. Pours a black color. Medium aroma. Quite viscous. Not quite as spicy as the Four Roses but a touch better than the Rittenhouse. Well balanced. Not hot at all.

Served in a FiftyFifty Eclipse snifter.
Finally getting around to trying this beer. Iíve been excited about this one for some time. Shared with the group during a FiftyFifty themed tasting.
The beer appears near black with a thin beige head. The aroma is vanilla, perhaps some toasted coconut, roast, chocolate, oak. Lovely. The taste follows suit. Simply delicious. A standout among the FiftyFifty Eclipse series.
It was interesting sipping this side by side with the Elijah Craig 18 Eclipse. I think both are fabulous beers, each offering a myriad of flavors. Highly recommended.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2011 (Pour from dak!) Elijah version. Pours near black with minimal head. Aroma is bourbony goodness. Chocolate. Taste is sweet-almost candylike inspite of the bourbon. Full bodied with creamy/slick texture. Really nice
Pappy version-courtesy of dionysus at RBWG 2011-Phoenix. Pours dark brown with tan head. Aroma has beautiful bourbon aroma which is understated, if thatís possible. Sweet malt and bourbon flavors with a little heat. Full bodied and creamy texture. Finish is all bourbon. This is a good beer, but other concurred that GI Rare was a bit better.

this beer is worth the price... simply amazing. pours nice and black with a firm tan head - that lasts throughout. layered vanilla, bourbon, light coffee and chocolate nose - they all blend so well together - nothing dominating - very well blended aromas. full body with smooth chocolate malts, silky vanilla and bourbon notes with a lingering bitterness. roasted finish with more bourbon and vanilla peaking in flavor. a lot of bourbon barrel aged stouts are way too boozy and heavy - this beer is so inviting and soothing - nothing forced - simple perfection.
