Draft @ NotB. Black pour with tan head.Bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate, roasted malt notes, and some light hop notes that are suppressed by this malt dominance and barrel aging.

A: Pours very dark with a small tan-mocha head and whisps of lacing. S: Nice characteristics of roasted malt, bourbon, coffee, caramel, vanilla, some booze. T: The bourbon really shines through against the rest of the flavors. Underneath are vanilla, some oak tannin, chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Very nice combination. M: Beautifully boozy with plenty of bourbon; just the right territory for an imperial stout. D: Very drinkable all around. Had this side by side with the Heaven Hill version and this one was just a tad bit better. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 06-29-2010

22oz. Bottle (2011 Vintage. Bottle # 2339): Aroma of malt, roast, wood, Whiskey, slight coconut, light coffee, wheat-bread-crust, slight alcohol, and chocolate. Poured pitch black in color with a small, creamy, rocky, brown/beige head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malt, wood, roasting, burning, char, vanilla, Whiskey, coffee, light chocolate, light tar, and a hint of alcohol. Medium body. Slightly dry, slightly chalky texture. Soft carbonation. Malt, wood, char, slight Whiskey, vanilla, coffee, light chocolate, slight alcohol finish is light to medium sweet and lightly bitter, as well as slightly dry. 10%ABV is noticeable but not hot.

650ml bottle pours black in color with a 2 finger light tan head that leaves some nice lacing rings on the glass. Aroma is dominated by bourbon with hints of chocolate and licorice. Taste is a chocolate malty sweetness with a light roasted grain and coffee bitterness finishing with the bourbon and a healthy alcohol burn. Medium bodied with some mild carbonation. Much more complex and tasty than I can put into words. Very nicely done brew that suits the style very well and is highly recommended.

Bomber graciously shared by BigSound. Cheers, Henri! Pours a wonderful stout brown with a tan head. Nose is bourbon, sweet molasses, brown sugar, wood, vanilla, rum-soaked raisins, and some milk chocolate. Flavor is similar with very sweet, very chocolate and molasses flavors throughout. This one is balanced more toward the barrel, but still really nice as the stout dances back with notes of chocolate and cafe con leche. Very enjoyable.

Bottle generously shared by a BA at the Rapture release. Poured a pitch black body under a brown long lasting head. Aroma of coconut, vanilla, bourbon, oak, charcoal and chocolate cake. Fuller syrupy body with a touch of obvious heat. Flavor of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, oak, tobacco, tar. Good good stuff.
