2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Elijah Craig bottle shared by MrPickles...thanks Andy! - Tasted this blind, and was really surprised by the reveal. I loved the Heaven Hill version, and figured Iíd love this one, too. Pours dark cola with barely a head. Nose is tons of sharp alcohol. Iíd expect it to be a bit hot, but the booze is so overpowering that I canít smell much else. Itís sweet though--lots of caramel and vanilla, but even thatís hard to discern beneath all that sharp alcohol. The taste is roughly the same, though a little less hot. None of the flavors seem to be very well integrated--as if a shot of liquor was dumped in an imperial stout. Itís even thinner and more watery than Iíd expect. Overall, this beer took me by total surprise, in a bad way.

Bottle @ ZEBF 2015. Aroma of coffee, booze and roast. Taste has coffee, whiskey, sweet boozy fruit and some roasted cacao. Nice, but expected even more.

Served in a FiftyFifty Eclipse snifter.
Finally getting around to trying this beer. Iíve been excited about this one for some time. Shared with the group during a FiftyFifty themed tasting.
The beer appears near black with a thin beige head. The aroma is vanilla, perhaps some toasted coconut, roast, chocolate, oak. Lovely. The taste follows suit. Simply delicious. A standout among the FiftyFifty Eclipse series.
It was interesting sipping this side by side with the Elijah Craig 18 Eclipse. I think both are fabulous beers, each offering a myriad of flavors. Highly recommended.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
2012 bottling Pours a solid black with a decent sized tan head that slowly dissipates. The aroma coming out of my glass is roasty, chocolate, caramel and coffee wrapped in a subtle but evident barrel treatment of vanilla, and sweet bourbon whiskey. The flavor starts off sweet and malty with lots of roast, brown sugar, and chocolate. The barrel notes rush in with vanilla, whiskey, light wood to remind us that this is no ordinary stout. Lingering roasty whiskey with a touch of ethanol burn lasts long after every sip. Thick body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy creamy mouthfeel. Nice stout, the bourbon adds a nice sweetness that really compliments this version.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared by Colin. Smooth and mellow. Not quite as good as the 20, but still one of my favorite treatments. I really dig those those caramel malt, vanilla, oak, and dark roasted malts. Good body and mouthfeel. A very nice imperial stout...

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle generously shared by Dak...AMAZING!!! So excited to try this one and it literally made my eyes roll back into my skull. What an incredible beer!!! Aroma of smooth bourbon, vanilla, and oak. Extremely fragrant and intoxicating nose that pulls your lips toward the rim of the glass. Rich fudge, molasses, brown sugar, and vanilla blast the palate with the bourbon very present but not at all distracting. The "hot" qualities of the alcohol have subsided and all that is left is the incredible flavor of the barrel. Incredibly balanced, the flavors married well and each seems to enhance the other. Creamy palate on this nearly black brew...this one lives up to its accolades!!!

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours unclear thick but not quite murky with almost no head. Aroma is too light bringing light wafer like and slight vanilla spice but dies quickly. Flavors bring sweet and spicy and chocolatey balanced flavors, a bit of caramel but everything blends without anything in the forefront with spices balanced so well.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2013 sample at HMOG 2015, if you can follow that. Whiskey aromas. Bit of the same on the flavor. This is a good series of beers. Not knowledgeable enough to pick out the barrel of each but it is a well made barrel aged beer. Spice alcohol drowns out the base beer a bit. The base does give a little body to the overall drink.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz bottle with purple wax. Pours a very deep caramel brown with a nice tan head, light lacing. Great nose of light bourbon notes along with vanilla, toffee and caramel. Nice and drinkable, not overbearing.
