Some kind soul brought this to, "hannont" ís for a tasting. Colour... very dark brown with no head. Nose... Boozeland, USA! Palate... SUH-WEET!! And boozy, with loads of caramel, toffee, butterscotch, dried orchard fruits, golden sirop, burnt brown sugar and a fabulously sweet looooooong finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz, purple waxed bottle #2694, 2011 edition. pours a deep, dark brown, almost opaque and sits black in the glass capped by a thin, mocha head that leaves tight rings of lace. aroma is excellent, a bit sweeter that other Eclipse versions, with notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, almonds, and spearmint backed by roasted malts, cocoa, light espresso, and subtle notes of toasted barrel. flavor is where this one really shines with notes of german chocolate cake with extra coconut icing, ashy malts, espresso, and subtle smoke backed by pralines, chocolate oranges, vanilla, and smooth, woody barrel notes. palate appears thin to the eye but actually ramps up in the mouthfeel with light carbonation a warming finish. overall, another excellent Eclipse variation.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had many of the eclipse series together. This is the 09 vintage. Pour is dark black liquid with a dark tan head. The nose has hints of bourbon, a bit of wood, lightly smoked with dry chocolate and some malt sweetness. The flavor is bourbon up front, lots of wood, notes of dry chocolate with a fair bit of rich cake and some additional fruity malt sweetness in back. Fully bodied, smooth and creamy, semi dry. One of the best in the tasting of the eclipse beers, rich and balanced with good integration.

2012. Barrely, burnt sugar, bourbon, roasted malt; booze soothes my throat after swallowing. Nice body. Pretty good, but nothing to write home about.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
dark cola color.
Good nose of chocolate, roast, coconut, marshmallow, oak and bourbon
Taste and feel give more alcohol but carmel also makes appearances as well as more of the barrel notes.
Not as thick as other BA beers but very easy to drink. Splendid drink and more like a fine brandy in a lot of ways

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown with thin watery edge. Full rich nose of bourbon, vanilla wood notes, and maybe some molasses. Taste is full on rich bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, and dark roast coffee. Just a full-on decadent bourbon bomb with very will integrated alcohol. Delicious, but interestingly not as complex as itís base beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. purple waxed bottle served in a Firestone Walker tulip. 2011 vintage, bottle # 2286.
A: Pours black color with dark brown edges. A one finger height of light tan foam forms on the pour and recedes quickly to a thin collar. Itís a little bubbly and leaves some spotty lace down the glass.
S: Bourbon and oak with honey sweetness. There is nice mild chocolate, some roasted malts and a little caramel on the finish.
T: Sweet bourbon. Itís very smooth and is integrated nicely with the base beer. Mild oak with a nice caramel and dark chocolate flavor profile. The finish is slightly warming.
M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. Smooth and rich mouthfeel.
O: The best of the 2011 variants (that Iíve had so far). The barrel was nicely integrated and melded well with the base beer.

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A - pours like molasses, opaque black with cola edges and very minimal cola head. S - nice very rich bourbon aromas. Cereal grains ( dry husked wheat, barley) and dark dried fruits ( dried figs, prunes, raisins) molasses, toffee, burnt sugar, sweet Whisky smells. Vanilla and light graham cracker M - medium heavy body, lighter than expected. Watery mf, dry grassy end. Alcohol is tasted in the end. T - dusty earthy chalk is prevalent on the nose. Vanilla, chocolate, toffee sweetness along with dark dried fruits lead the way. Dry oaky notes, bready malts, dried dates on the palate. Flavor falls off to a lingering mineral water, dried grasses faceless bitterness and alcohol sting. O - good but not great. The aromas are much better than the tastes. Taste falls flat and the grains are too prevalent 4.1.
