3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I found the nose on this one to be somewhat vegital..or even garbage-like...others werent getting this, but i did and it smelled a bit wrong. THe pour was dark brown, bordering on black. Flavors were nice though, with bourbon booziness, dark chocolate, vanilla, with a soft, velvety texture. Can get a little hot though...and not as good as the HH IMO, YO.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Nearly black with a small head of larger bubbles that don’t stick around particularly long. Big vanilla cola and chocolate aroma. Lots of smooth bourbon barrel flavor with less roast or underlying malt and more straight sweetness than I got out of the 2008. THe body was also a little lighter and not quite satisfying given the other elements of the beer. I did hang on to this for over a year though, and it might have been a bit more substantial when fresh. In any case, a tasty beer, but not the amazing experience that the 2008 was when I first had it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle (2011, #3304) from deftim13, thanks man. Clear dark brown with a small fizzy tan head that quickly fades down to a ring. Aroma is black malt, fruity bourbon, chocolate, caramel and oak. Flavor is hot bourbon and alcohol up front, dark roasted coffee and bitter-sweet chocolate. Medium to full body with prickly carbonation. This one is loaded with bourbon, but I like that. Really nice beer.

Very smooth. Pours a black color. Medium aroma. Quite viscous. Not quite as spicy as the Four Roses but a touch better than the Rittenhouse. Well balanced. Not hot at all.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2014 22 oz bottle. 2012 vintage. Pours black with light to moderate tan head. Aromas of rich dark roasted malts, pumpernickel/oatmeal, and alcohol. Flavors are similar with notes of toasted coconut and licorice. Big, full, and boozy. Very good but over priced - at least double that of equally good or better barrel aged Imperials.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tasted side-by-side with a 2013 buffalo trace... Flavor is more roasty and hotter than the aged eclipse... Less complex ... However, by itself, aroma of anise, dark chocolate, bourbon... Flavor is dark chocolate, anise, roasted malts... Finish is dark bitter chocolate... Amazing

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
this beer is worth the price... simply amazing. pours nice and black with a firm tan head - that lasts throughout. layered vanilla, bourbon, light coffee and chocolate nose - they all blend so well together - nothing dominating - very well blended aromas. full body with smooth chocolate malts, silky vanilla and bourbon notes with a lingering bitterness. roasted finish with more bourbon and vanilla peaking in flavor. a lot of bourbon barrel aged stouts are way too boozy and heavy - this beer is so inviting and soothing - nothing forced - simple perfection.
