Pour out of 750 mL bottle, 2011 bottle, Darkness Day 2012. Thick black pour with creamy tan head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, roast, coffee, nice vanilla, slight oak, bourbon, spice notes from the whiskey, slight toffee, caramel as well in there. Taste is roast, chocolate, sweet vanilla, caramel, bourbon, slight spice, yeast notes, slight oaky tones, hints of a slight dark fruit, finishing sweet, slightly bitter.

Purple wax bottle 99/2009 Thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours with a fading tan head over a black body. Aroma of chocolate, earth, cologne, bourbon, fusel, coconut tanning lotion, and fresh bread. Taste is rich, chocolate, wood, bourbon and sugar cookie. Creamy carbonation. 848416:4.0

Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Bottle run no. 2/2013. 11.9%. Black with a big light brown head. Roasty aroma of coffee, bourbon, wood, some vanilla, a bit of coconut, some dark fruits, some chocolate and a bit of alcohol. Roasty flavor, a bit boozy, sweet, with chocolate, bourbon, a bit of vanilla and some dark fruits. Quite full-bodied. Very good.

Bottle shared by Kan or Adam (thanks!) at the 2010 RBSG Grand Tasting. Poured near black with a yellow brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had dark grains some coffee, caramel, licorice and definite bourbon. Flavor had more coffee with growing bourbon with caramel and licorice backing.

Bottle. Ive had both the 2013 and the 2014. Both were very very similar, showing a nice densely malty imperial base with a dominant (but pleasing) bourbon character. The 13 was distinctly smoother, less boozy in the finish. Im really enjoying this BA Eclipse series.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2013 Bottle at Darkness Day 2012. Super dark pour with a tan head. Huge bourbon and vanilla aroma and taste. Slick palate.

Pouring at EBFs Night of the Barrels. Pours a clear brown to black with a thin tan head. Smells like your basic run of the mill American imperial stout, chocolate, coffee, roast. Follows the nose flavorwise, roast and chocolate. Did feature a weird vinyl aftertaste however.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2010 Waxed bomber, courtesy of kiefdog, pours deep dark brown with almost no head. The aroma is a bit mild with notes of caramel, molasses, fairly strong levels of bourbony booze, some oak, dark roastiness and some chocolate. The taste is rich thick smooth velvety YUM with sweetness running from molasses to caramel to malts. The barrel notes do a good job cover up most of the base beer goodnesss. I get firm assertive bourbon and a bit of oak from midway and into the finish. Less barrel time would have been nice.

Draft. Black/brown beer with a low cream head. Bourbon aroma. Bourbon and light chocolate flavor with light vanilla. Medium-plus bodied. Bourbon and light chocolate lingers with light roastiness. Well put together.

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2012 Elijah Craig, 2009 Vintage: Pours a deep, inky opaque black with a small brown head. Notes of rich bourbon, vanilla, roasted malts, chocolate, oak, and molasses. Nose is a little hot, but the flavor and mouthfeel are damn near perfect; smooth and rich without being too bourbony. Full-bodied, with low carbonation. This is my favorite of the four here today. 8 5 9 5 17 - 4.4. Re-Rate, 2011 vintage, purple wax. 22 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy but bright mahogany with a small tan film. Warm aroma, with molasses, oak, toffee, and vanilla. The flavor has tobacco, vanilla, caramel, molasses, oak, brown sugar, and bourbon. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. Not as good as the vintage I had at FOBAB. Was tied as my third favorite of the 2011 series. 8 4 8 4 16 - 4.0.
