(22oz purple wax bomber #99/2009 thanks to ericandersnavy) clear ruby brown with oily khaki bubbles. Nose of honey, bourbon, alcohol, chocolate syrup. Taste of maple, alcohol, vanilla bean, honey, milk chocolate, bourbon that’s complex and delicious. Silky smooth mouthfeel.

Sharply bourbon strong nose, apples, woody with soft hints of vanilla too. Black pour with cola edges thinnish beige head. Bourbon, vanilla, wood, darker malts, some chocolate, tons of bourbon, like a shot was poured into the beer. Super boozy, thin body. Wow I could have let this sit for a while.

Bottled @ gbbf, batch br2 2012 purple wax, medium sample. Dark color, medium brown head. Aroma of biscuit, bourbon, roasted malts, chocolate, hint of coffee. Honey is gone in aroma. In taste its quite heavy on bourbon, bit boozy even. Still base beer is present.

22 oz bottle, via pantanap. Black pour with a small fizzy brown head that fell to a thin ring and a wispy partial covering. The nose is rather boozy and bourbon dominated, but there’s still a lot of good stuff in there as well. Vanilla, light wood, roast, bitter bakers chocolate, a little candied dark fruits. The flavor is pretty well balanced between the barrel and the beer though. There’s plenty of bourbon, but it’s as much focused on the vanilla, roast, oak, and dark roast coffee as the bourbon. Some light alcohol flavor, but it works pretty well with the slight sweetness and the vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, with a nice lingering vanilla and roast finish. Soft fizzy carbonation helps cut the body well. Pretty nice bourbon barrel stout. Any more booziness and it might have been too much, but I think this worked as it is.

22oz bottle, 2009 #880 generously shared by footbalm, thanks again
Appearance: Pours coal black with a small tan head with very little lacing, but some legs left on the glass after a good swirl to get more of that great aroma
Aroma: Dark malts, bourbon and oak
Taste: Smooth and silky mouthfeel. Dark malts and fruits, oak, grainy and chocolate
Very good and smooth drinking
