Bottle shane brought to the tasting last night, good call dude, glad to finally get to try this after going to the brewery twice at the wrong time of year. Pours black with a light brown head. Nose is sweet with a big rich bourbon bite. Taste is sweet and rich, and full of flavor. Quite good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
65 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2014. Courtesy of & thx! to ThirstyBird. Lovely bottle. Black touch brown, almost no mocha head. Nose is mellow, roasted, mocha, dark fruits, faint barrel. Taste is sweet mocha mixed with some roast, caramel, toffee, some whiskey but not much, chocolate, coffee, dark chocolate, barrel is pretty light, touch dark bread, leaves. Substantial body but not the heaviest. Okay but definitely expected more here. The 20 Year version was way better in my memory.

11/26/10. 2009 elijah craig #147.
dark. almost black with a soft tan head.
milk chocolate aroma... bits of creamy, brown sugar, ash, spice, roast, vanilla and mellow bourbon exist as well.
the flavor is very rich and the bourbon doesn’t over power everything. aftertaste is chocolate-y bourbon goodness.
medium to full body, creamy texture and all around impressive. 8.5/4/8.5/5/17

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2009 Draft @ FiftyFifty, 2009 Elijah Craig version. Pours a very dark, chocolate-brown color; medium-brown head (thin) with attractive fine-bubbled lacing. Pleasantly oily, charred malts and dark chocolate in the aroma; tempered alcohol, warming, lots of dried dark fruits; I don’t see much difference from previous renditions. Dense, oily, full mouthfeel: lots of pepper, dark chocolate, and dried dark fruits; some lovely oily and inkiness; relaxed carbonation; just enough bite to this - a solid vintage of an excellent beer. Medium finish: dark fruits, chocolate, nicely toasty, hidden alcohol at the end. 126.96.36.199.16=4.1
22oz bottle. Pours a very dark, chocolate-brown color; minimal light; medium tan head with fine-bubbled lacing; solid pour. Lots of milk and dark chocolate, roasted / toasty malts, and a very soft, vanilla-laden bourbon / woody character in the nose; very nice, soft bourbon-aged imperial stout nose; some spicy, toasty graham cracker notes. Full mouthfeel: loads of dense, generous milk chocolate, roasted / burnt malts, and nougat upfront; roasted coffee, dense, chewy milk chocolate, and plenty of vanilla-tinged, chewy soft bourbon presence; really pleasant, soft bourbon presence with some buttery vanilla and sweet brown sugar; excellent barrel character; soft edges. Slightest show of warmth. Excellent, oily presence in the mouth. Lengthy finish: oily milk and dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, and warming alcohol; toasty malts and coffee at the far end. 188.8.131.52.16=4.1

Courtesy of kmweaver. Black body with a small tan head. The nose is big chocolate, toffee, roast, coffee and alcohol. The flavor is very sweet, lightly bitter with chocolate, dark fruits, astringent coffee, bourbon and molasses. Full body is a bit rough with moderate carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz bottle, 2011. Dark brown with spotty bubbles and lacy rings. Nose is bourbon, dark chocolate, peppery oak and molasses. Body is substantial and hot but not pushing it in either case. Delicate prickly carb lightens and lingers. Taste like the nose with the mellow bourbon set off beautifully against the rich chocolate and molasses. Hints of coconut and raisin. Delish.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz bottle with purple wax. Pours a very deep caramel brown with a nice tan head, light lacing. Great nose of light bourbon notes along with vanilla, toffee and caramel. Nice and drinkable, not overbearing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
jet black, thin large-bubbled head is coaxed with a vigorous pour but remains. Nose at first shows a dusty, oxidized malt, some unsweet bourbon, and a light soy. Reminds of aged 7000 without as much of the robust malt. Flavor is hotter up front, a thin but delicate body reminds of a nice rum-candy with warmth on the mid-palate, with some wood and cocoa through the lengthy finish, dry finish. Body and malt profile are a bit washed out but also chewy and overly sweet, some unfermented sugars remaining amidst near-balance. Still, I personally find the light body and lack of strong malt to be a trend growing too common from stout experimenters like CCB, Bruery, and now 50-50. And yet there is a ton of bourbon in this, which I’ve hardly mentioned, and I think this is because the bourbon blends so well with the base beer flavors.
EC still very sweet but enough base beer qualities to merge with the barrel, again alcohol-laden candy aspects between the bourbon, vanilla, and ashy chocolate.
