Aroma is pure luscious scraped vanilla bean, rum cake, raisins and wet wood. Lots of charred wood and dry aged beefiness in the flavor with a bitnof ash and a dry, raw roastiness. The body is medium but elegant, it comes and goes with grace. Nice expression of the style that I appreciated much more upon a second tasting. Thanks Fifty Fifty. 2011 22 oz.

Pour from bottle at Zwanze Day 2012 at the Barrel Cellar. Big thanks for the pour Bill!! Appearance is dark brown with a slight red tint and a small brown head. Dark fruit, prunes, wood/oak, raisins, slightly roasty aroma. Taste is toffee, caramel, plums, black licorice, anise, with a really smooth middle and roasted, dark chocolate finish that seems to linger on your tongue. Slick mouthfeel with really no carbonation. Really good barrel aged beer. Nice!

From bottle at Pangea Two Brews. This is the first bourbon beer Ive had where I felt the bourbon was working with the beer. Aroma is chocolate and marshmallow.

We did a taste testing of five different 50-50 2012 stouts. For the base stout, its quite frankly superb. Pours black, with a beautiful yellowish-white froth. Some coffee notes, little bitterness, but the predominating flavor is roasted malt. Of the five, this and two others were in my second tier. Quite good, mind you, but very bourbony in flavor. If you enjoy a bourbon-infused stout, you cant go wrong with this. The Elijah had a late punch, lingering in bourbon flavor after the initial stout taste.

2012 bottle, poured into a tulip. Black with medium sized head. Aroma is roast, malt, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, wood. Flavor has a sweetness that is different than other Eclipses I have tried, and more like Black Tuesday. Complex flavor and medium to full mouthfeel. The best Eclipse Ive tried so far.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2013 Bourbon and stout. Aroma and taste are pretty gentile. Had this up against a few other ba stouts. Not as much bite as some of the others. Not worth the price but at least its available.

4/11/13. Bomber thanks to Robin. Tasted side by side with 4 other Eclipses. Krunk. Black pour with a nice tan head. Rich BA bourbon aroma - fudge, caramel, coconut, char, and more. Nice flavor as well, rich fudge, nice bourbon, coconut, vanilla, char, and more. Awesome bourbon character but I think the wheat is still better for me so far tonight.

22oz, purple waxed bottle #2694, 2011 edition. pours a deep, dark brown, almost opaque and sits black in the glass capped by a thin, mocha head that leaves tight rings of lace. aroma is excellent, a bit sweeter that other Eclipse versions, with notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, almonds, and spearmint backed by roasted malts, cocoa, light espresso, and subtle notes of toasted barrel. flavor is where this one really shines with notes of german chocolate cake with extra coconut icing, ashy malts, espresso, and subtle smoke backed by pralines, chocolate oranges, vanilla, and smooth, woody barrel notes. palate appears thin to the eye but actually ramps up in the mouthfeel with light carbonation a warming finish. overall, another excellent Eclipse variation.
