4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tasting at Gourmet Haus during SF Beer Week. Beautiful black. Sweet alcohol with lots of complex chocolate. This was one of my two favorite out of the flight of all 8 from 2011. Glad I have a bottle at home as well.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2011 Release, Bottle 3788. Pours a dark brown with thin light brown head, settles quickly with no lacing. Aroma is strong bourbon, vanilla, sweet, oaky. Flavor is mod bourbon, strong vanilla, with a chocolate mild roasted finish and a sweet, oaky, vanilla, bourbon aftertaste. Sweet, mild roast, more so as it warms. Some nice balance. Soft carbonation, medium body to full body. Smooth, slightly sticky texture and a warm finish. Lacks some of the body and fullness that Uncle Jacobís has. A solid bourbon barrel imperial stout, though it hardly merits the price. Could just as well have bought two UJS.

Champinjon....underbar...bourbon...underbar...helt underbar. Värdsklass. Choklad. Oerhört balanserad. Lite molass. Tankarna far iväg till gamla goose Island bourbon county 2010 och tidigare. Dags att sluta analysera och bara njuta. Absolut värdsklass!!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle pours black with thick bubbly brown head. Aroma mainly bourbon and oak with a little roast. Taste malt sweetness with bourbon, vanilla, slight roast, chocolate and lots of oak. Finish mild oak and slight roast with malty fullness. Palate rich and creamy. Alcohol apparent.
I liked it a lot although the oak dominated more than I would like.

Pour pitch black, with small tan head.
Aroma is really packed with vanilla and barrel. Really some delicious shit... Also some slight leathery, caramel, bourbon, coffee, dark fruity - and woody notes. But really barrel forward. And Iím a fan.
The taste is quite sweet, with some faint bitter notes. Well balanced? - hell yes. Medium-full bodied, with a semi-flat carbonation. Delicious like a SOB. A Big thanks to Ryan for sending me this shit.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pitch black pour with basically no head to speak of and little carbonation. Nose is coconut, vanilla, chocolate, toffee and bourbon. Taste follows but is heavier on the vanilla and coconut. Nice warming bourbon. Will certainly improve with age but is still an absolute top beer without the age. Fabulous.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from 22oz bottle capped with White wax. Pours black with edges of brown. Very little carbonation and no head at all. Aroma is coconut, vanilla, chocolate and some nice bourbon aromas. Taste is sweet, coconut, vanilla and warming bourbon. This one really tastes a lot like Churchillís Finest Hour from 2011. Love this one. Nicely done.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap. Black pour. No head. Strong aroma of bourbon. Taste is pleasantly sweet, a little like port. I also got flavors of dark cherry, vanilla, oak, and dark malts. The body is heavy. This beer is definitely a sipper.

Big thanks to Deuane for opening his newly purchased bottle for us to try. I was really looking forward to trying this one.
A - Pours black as night with a nice one finger tall tan head leaving light lace down the glass. A little light on the carbonation it seems...
S - Smells fairly similar to the 12yr. with a bit more barrel to it. Still has plenty of vanilla, chocolate, and coffee but the bourbon and oak have really taken this bottle over.
T - Starts off with a big dose of bourbon heat slowly giving way to a mix of sweet vanilla and chocolate and day old coffee grounds. Finish is pretty dry with plenty of oak tannins. Like the 12yr., I can only imagine how good this beer will be with some time on it.
M - Heavy body and flavor with moderately low carbonation. Fairly similar to the 12yr. in that has a smooth body, maybe a bit more booze and tannins in this version.
O - This one was pretty good, although not as good as the 12yr. I still have one of these in the cellar and I look forward to revisiting this one in the future.
