4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma of maple syrup, cherry, sweet chocolate and vanilla. Pours black and viscus with no head or film. Taste is sweet with candied cherry, chocolate, vanilla bean, and molasses. This is everything I love about a bourbon aged stout.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2012 bottle pours just like all the other eclipses I've had: dark, khaki head. Bourbon is muted in nose but displays some chocolate. Mouth adds nut and vanilla. More cocoa. Big creamy body.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
HMOG 2015. One of two variants sampled on the day. While I love the series, I found this one to be a bit sweeter than some that I have had. Lots of bourbon, vanilla, barrel, chocolate. Sweet and still yummy.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bottle with white wax.
Pour is consistent with all the 09 and 10’s I’ve had, which is to say it’s a little lighter than most impy stouts, dark chocolate brown with a small beige head that sticks to the sides on the way down.
Aroma is sublime, big on the bourbon, possibly the most whiskey-forward of any of the versions I’ve smelled before. Lots of coconut and vanilla from the barrels with the underlying chocolate malts taking a bit of a back seat.
The taste is a little different but almost as good. The bourbon is there but doesn’t have quite the same vanilla and coconut character. It’s more oak and booze with a heavier dose of roast than the aroma.
Mouthfeel is trademark Eclipse, crazy smooth but not overly thick.
Todd consistently makes some of the most drinkable and well-integrated barrel-aged stouts and this is no exception. This particular iteration is a little heavier on the bourbon than I would prefer (HH09 is damn near ecstasy) but is still excellent. Can’t wait to try the other 2011 versions.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2011 release, bottle # 5619 thanks to Dakine. Dark pour with a brown head. Aroma was mellow bourbon, roasted malt, licorice and vanilla. Taste was just awesome. Roasted malt and bourbon meld together to form a beer that you just want to sip forever. This is another "why did I share this with my brother" beer. Wonderful aftertaste, creamy mouth feel, a plethora of goodness. A first rate drinking experience.
