COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Eclipse Stout aged in special release Elijah Craig 20 Year Bourbon Barrels

Note from the brewer: The white wax 2011 Eclipse was all 20 year. There was no such brand when we acquired barrels, so we called it 18 year. We have since found out that the 20 year old barrels were dumped for a 20yo Elijah Craig special bottling.

Vintages:
2011 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 18/20 Year Barrel) = White Wax
2012 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 20 Year Barrel) = White Wax

Bottle at home, thanks to Doodler. Served in my Minneapolis Town Hall glass. Pours opaque black, moderate tan head, fantastic lacing. Nose is perfect Bourbon-aged stout aroma, ideal vanilla, coconut, mocha, and strong alcohol notes. Flavours of toasty oak, vanilla, coconut, milk chocolate, Toffifee, brandy beans, cashew and macadamia nuts. Alcohol is distracting, but it is a fine stout nonetheless.

Bottle 2012. Dark brown close to black with a minimal tan head. Molasses, bourbon, warming alcohol, vanilla, sweet chocolate. Medium body, sticky texture, near flat carbonation, medium/heavy sweet and medium bitter. More flat and sticky than the 12 year version. Nåe ringar end tållaaarn.

Very dark brown beer.small head. Nice brew. The bourbon comes through just faintly and gives this beer the extra dimension. Good brew for sure.

Bottle courtesy of cocoapuph - thanks! Deep black pour with soft tan head. Light roast malt, vanilla creme, and faint oak. Flavor is sweet mix of vanilla creme, marshmallow, and lightly roasted malt. Some dark fruit. All smooth and without booze. Good palate presence, with thick malt qualities. A sweet imperial stout.

2012 Bottle. Pour is black with a small tan head. Aroma is of caramel, maple, soy sauce, and oak. Flavor is a bit stronger with notes of bourbon, oak, vanilla, and brown sugar. The bourbon heat picks up a little on the finish.

Taste is dark chocolate, muscovado sugar, caramel, coffee, vanilla, bourbon, honey. Mouthfeel is silky smooth with low carbonation. Aftertaste is bourbon, vanilla and chocolate ntes. My god!!
