COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Eclipse Stout aged in special release Elijah Craig 20 Year Bourbon Barrels

Note from the brewer: The white wax 2011 Eclipse was all 20 year. There was no such brand when we acquired barrels, so we called it 18 year. We have since found out that the 20 year old barrels were dumped for a 20yo Elijah Craig special bottling.

Vintages:
2011 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 18/20 Year Barrel) = White Wax
2012 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 20 Year Barrel) = White Wax

"FiftyFifty is a good brewery with hit and (more often) miss service, but damn do they know how to make a stout. The iced eclipse and now this, the (older) elijah craig eclipse have been two of the best beers I’ve had in 2012. I need me some of this bourbon! Great balance between the wonderful sweet bourbon aromas, vanilla, malted chocolate, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and some bittersweet hops in the aftertaste. Super smooth and deeeelicious!"

Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brown with a transient tan head and a treacle and bourbon aroma. There is a rich sweet chocolate and dark molasses flavor with a warm bourbon trail. Perhaps my favorite version of Eclipse.

75cl bottle sample @ RBBWG 2013, courtesy of Tderoeck.

22 oz. bottle, white wax. Sampled along with all the other 2011 releases. Pours a deep, dark amber-brown with a small filmy head. Aroma of coconut, toasted malts, oak, toffee, and molasses. The flavor brings the same toastiness, coconut, brown sugar, and roasted malts along with some dark fruits. Medium-full bodied, with a sweet finish and medium carbonation. This and the Grand Cru were my favorites of the 2011 series.

2011 bottle 4156 thank to billshmeinke alongside a glass of the EC18 Bourbon and a bottle of the 2008 Pappy Van Winkle Eclipse and the 2011 Buffalo Trace Eclipse. Also sampled on tap. Pours with a pitch black body and a lasting tan head with good lace. Aromas are rich, cola, almond, nutty, vanilla, dark fruits, vanilla and fudge. Very rich and decadent. Medium vanillin and oak with rich brown sugar notes. Very refined. Flavors are of vanilla, cola, dates, tannin to balance, fudgy, light smoke, currants. Full bodied and creamy with lasting raisinated flavors. Really, really good! Better than the 2008 Pappy Eclipse at this point. A lot better!

Awesome bottle. 2011 edition. Pours a jet black color with a small beige head. A wonderful nose of vanilla, massive mellow bourbon, toffee. huge. The flavor is super easy to drink, mellow, oak, vanilla, burnt caramel, dark fruit, light heat. My rating doesn’t convey how damn good that barrel is. Awesome beer. Top notch BA stout.

22oz.bottle. Pours dark brown with a small bubbly tan head. The nose is roast, chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla, dark fruits and a splash of molasses with some boozy notes as well. The flavor is roasted, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits and molasses. Some light coffee notes. A touch hot and I would like to see a bit more body to support the flavors.
