5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
2011 bottle, # 2307. Pours thick oily jet black with 1-finger tan head that retains well. More head than the 12 EC here. Nose is very similar to the 18 year; a lot of oaky earthy malt, figgy, port, blackberry, and raisin fruits, oaky spirity. Tastes very rich, smooth to the level of nitrogenation, complex, with loads of oaky spirits, earthy cacaoey and blackberry malt, port, figs, and more heat as it warms, and none of that scotch barrel aftertaste. This one is world-class.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
"FiftyFifty is a good brewery with hit and (more often) miss service, but damn do they know how to make a stout. The iced eclipse and now this, the (older) elijah craig eclipse have been two of the best beers I’ve had in 2012. I need me some of this bourbon! Great balance between the wonderful sweet bourbon aromas, vanilla, malted chocolate, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and some bittersweet hops in the aftertaste. Super smooth and deeeelicious!"

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle, white wax. Sampled along with all the other 2011 releases. Pours a deep, dark amber-brown with a small filmy head. Aroma of coconut, toasted malts, oak, toffee, and molasses. The flavor brings the same toastiness, coconut, brown sugar, and roasted malts along with some dark fruits. Medium-full bodied, with a sweet finish and medium carbonation. This and the Grand Cru were my favorites of the 2011 series.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour out of bottle bought in Foco, shared at the bar. Pour was black as night with a nice thick, oily black head. Aroma enveloped the notes with big sweet and rich vanilla and bourbon notes, working very nicely into a big chocolate, dark and bitter cocoa with espresso notes as well, hints of toffee and caramel round this out. Taste is just the same, velvety bourbon and vanilla with just a hint of booze, goes into a nice caramel and toffee note then has big dark and roasted chocolate and coffee beans, finishing nice and roasted. Excellent.
