3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 Dark black brown body, medium sized khaki head. a few stray bits of lacing. bourbon, molasses, brown sugar, a bit sweet and lacking any true roasted character to balance things out and add complexity. the flavor profile is similar, with the addition of a significant amount of anise that distracts. mouthfeel is thin in parts and is a bit cloying. a bit disappointing considering past experiences with the eclipses.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black pour with a sudsy tan head. Earthen dirt and caramel lead to vanilla bourbon and raisin. A bit cloying and lacking complexity. Medium body with abrasive carbonation. Not the best balance.

Sampled from bottle @ RBBWG 2013. Opaque pitch black color, small to medium sized white to off-white head. Aroma and taste of malts, roastyness, lightly hops, some liquorice and too much sweetness.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sugary sweet molasses nose. Taste is grossly sweet, lots if molasses and brown sugar, light chocolate. Astringent finish. Not good.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
22 oz bottle, bottle 3768 / 2011. Pours brown black with a small dark brown head that quickly foes to a thin film and leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is sweet molasses and dark fruits with a lot of sharp whiskey.
The flavor is roasted malts and sweet sugary dark fruits with a lot of sharp burnt alcoholic whiskey. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, it’s too sweet and boozy for me. It does mellow some as it warms, but still very sweet.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
dark sepia, ghost for a head.. Thin cream ring. Marshmallow nose, dirty nose is mud, like when I fell on the wet soccer field after getting nut-blasted in ’01. Anise too. Flavor is heavy burnt milk chocolate, earth, toasted marshmallow in the finish, equally as disappointing as limping off the field holding my junk being asked by coach "did it hit you in the balls or the shaft?"

Got my hands on a bottle and sure I had some hype for this one with all the great reviews and all the attention this has been getting at bars I was sure looking foward to this. A: Viscious black, thick, used motor oil with a finger head that goes away in a few seconds. S: Straight burbon and alcohol with some chocolate there. T: Lots and lots of burbon almost no stout here just some sweet chocolate malts in there this was bad seems like totality was raped in the barrels. This finishes with heat in the throat and more heat in the tummy this thing made me choke a couple of times like if I where taking shots of crappy burbon. M: Oily and a bit creamy with heat. O: A fucking drainpour I only drank half the bottle before just saying I had enough I just threw my money away at something I had big hope for. Know im not really gonna hate the beer the thing is I heard alot about bottle variation. Seems this is a gamble with with little chance of getting something bad unfortunately I believe I got a bad bottle. I hope to get this in draft hopefully is not bad. The only thing else I can imagine is that I had this pretty warm about 60 degrees but what am I saying this aint fucking coors so I doubt that was a problem. And I love burbon age stouts Parabola and KBS being personal favorites so Im lost.
