COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Eclipse Stout aged in special release Elijah Craig 20 Year Bourbon Barrels

Note from the brewer: The white wax 2011 Eclipse was all 20 year. There was no such brand when we acquired barrels, so we called it 18 year. We have since found out that the 20 year old barrels were dumped for a 20yo Elijah Craig special bottling.

Vintages:
2011 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 18/20 Year Barrel) = White Wax

Intense great and smooth brew. The whisky is very smooth and woody, great and smooth in combination. Fascinating deep wth not being too sweet but with great brown-sugar hints on a nice and soft milk-chocolate basis with lots of great woody Bourbon. Round and fascinating stuff with great Bourbon and wood in the background!

Bottle with Sean and Pat on NYE. Poured a dark silky black color with small to medium beige head. Head faded rather fast but left an awesome trail of sticky lacing. Aromas of bourbon, coconut, figs, honey, dark fruits including berries, plum, and cherry. Other rich notes of malt and roasted chocolate. Taste was filled with smooth bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, blackberry, molasses, oak, and a touch of coconut. Great aged stout to usher in the new year.

Thanks to Beer Savant for sharing Bottle #2516. Pours pitch black with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Patches of lacing on the glass. Oaky bourbon aroma with notes of caramel, vanilla and chocolate. Rich and smooth body with flavors of vanilla, oak, caramel malt and dark chocolate. Booze is rather subtle throughout. The finish is woody with a lingering dark malty aftertaste. Very good beer all around.

Pour out of bottle bought in Foco, shared at the bar. Pour was black as night with a nice thick, oily black head. Aroma enveloped the notes with big sweet and rich vanilla and bourbon notes, working very nicely into a big chocolate, dark and bitter cocoa with espresso notes as well, hints of toffee and caramel round this out. Taste is just the same, velvety bourbon and vanilla with just a hint of booze, goes into a nice caramel and toffee note then has big dark and roasted chocolate and coffee beans, finishing nice and roasted. Excellent.

650 ml bottle. 2011 vintage. Pours a dark cola brown with small light tan head settles to a ring, and leaves some light lacing on the glass. The aroma is big cocoa, bourbon, some marshmallow, vanilla, and toffee. The initial taste is sweet with mashmallow, cocoa, some bourbon and vanilla, toffee, caramel, and a bit of roastiness. A hint of alcohol on the finish. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Quite awesome. The flavors all come together quite nicely here. This was quite enjoyable, especially after the big letdown from the brandy. 9.4.9.4.18
