3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2010 vintage with the black wax. Consumed September 2012. Black with a tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate and bourbon, with some nice oak and roasted malt character. When I first take a sip I notice this one is pretty boozy. It also has a lot of barrel aged notes. I get good bits of brown sugar, oak, vanilla and maple, as well as chocolate and roasted malt. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Glad I got to try this one.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
A nice small head with a foam lacing in my glass. The sweet bourbon scent stands out. I can smell bourbon, robust malts, a hint of vanilla, and chocolate. I taste bourbon, wood, and chocolate malts. There is a slight vanilla taste. Overall it is a solid brew. My palate was affected and it left a pleasant aftertaste.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
From 2012 bottle, fresh. Appearance is not among my favorite stouts. Pours deep black with a thick, dark tan head. Aroma is top notch. Lots of vanilla from the bourbon and chocolate from the malt. Amazing how the bourbon notes come off as separate and not just as a singular "bourbon". Taste and mouthfeel are both spectacular. Overall, I have to knock off an additional point for value, as I feel like this beer is a bit overpriced in general. I would still put it in my top 5 stouts, though.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ Steve’s Foco. Thanks! Pours a deep brown appearance with a small brown head. A bit boozy whiskey, lightly herbal, chocolate, mild caramel aroma. Quite burnt chocolate, caramel, chewy toffee, kind of boozy whiskey flavor with a bit of an herbal, vegetal note that I don’t like. The first one of the series I didn’t love.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark with a a small tan head. The aroma is almost nonexistent until it warms. It tuns to chocolate, roasted grain, and some booze. The taste is very nice. Nice and chewy with chocolate, coffee, and bourbon up front, followed by anise and soy sauce on the finish. This is very tasty.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thanks Dakine! Deep black pour with a brown head. Aroma is bourbon, oak and roasted malt. Taste is very smooth: roasted malt, oak, sweetness, bourbon. It had a chalky aftertaste, a little chewy. A damn good beer. Nice lacing. Alc noticeable at the end, The beer clings to the glass.

Bottle pours black tan khaki head. Smells tastes oak wood bourbon heavy very fresh. Dark sugars fruits. Hint vinillia. Wow booze flavor heavy. Nice thick texture. But sticky not bad. Small fizz on tongue. Over all a awesome beer I’d prob let it age a bit bourbon stings throat. Good shit.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared with a pal after midnight on New Year’s Day with an Oliva Series V Robusto. The pour was thick jet black with minimal head. Nose was bourbon and oak-forward, with dark malt, anise, and blackberry hints. Tasted really thick and rich, with the oaky bourbon spirits hammering the palate, and keeping pace with my intense full-bodied 92 rated Cigar Aficionado cigar. Possibly my favorite 50/50 Eclipse beer thus far.
