4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz bottle, 2010 vintage, black wax, bottle #121, received in trade. Thanks Michael! Pours a jet black color with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, some light bourbon. Medium to heavy on the palate with light, soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, smooth bourbon, some light oak, with a light bourbon finish. Very easy drinking. Wish it were more accessible. And cheaper. But very tasty.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at DBS on a taster. Palate that doesn't hit as hard as the Rittenhouse Rye, but has a wide, bright and bitter edge to it, yet finishes nicely. Very good beer.

Bottle 1866. 2010 Vintage. Very black, no head. Distinct bourbon aroma. Full bodied with well rounded mouthfeel. Warming and pleasant with milk chocolate, licorice and bourbon. The bourbon marries this imperial stout exceptionally well. Damn good!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small dark brown foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of vanilla and bourbon are quite strong with some coffee notes also discernable. Taste is a mix between some coffee notes with black chocolate and some nice vanilla notes with smooth bourbon notes on top of it. Body is full with good creamy texture and medium carbonation with no alcohol notes perceptible. Very nice beer and definitely makes me want to discover more beers from this brewery.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottles shared by Lunch and Thorpe429. Thanks Paul and Mike!
The beer appears very dark brown, nearly black. The head is 1/4", and generates a fair amount of lacing on the glass.
The aroma brings bourbon and a general boozy quality, as well as roasted malt. Unsurprisingly, it smells like a barrel-aged stout.
I actually thought the beer tasted better than the aroma would have led me to believe. The beer is slightly sweet throughout, making this a good bottle for sharing a few ways, as one snifter was just right. Bourbon and roast are up front, with more subtle flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and coffee playing a secondary role.
The feel is medium bodied, with alcohol presence throughout, though not necessarily in a negative or distracting way.
Overall, a tasty brew, and one I would happily enjoy again.

Pours thick and black with a minimal tan head. Nose is strong vanilla, molasses, grass, oak and chocolate. Taste is sweet up front, good bitter precense as well to turn out a well balanced aftertaste. Mouthfeel is soft, creamy and lively. Body is heavy and has a long finish. Refined and decadent.

Bottle from City Beer. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head and a treacle and alcohol aroma. There is a hearty chocolate flavor with some dark molasses and a smooth bourbon finish. A nice sipper.
