4 versions of Eclipse this year. The lions share will go to Evan Williams Single Barrel. Barrels were 10-13 years old. These barrels were kept in an ambient temp storage situation. Approx 180 days in the wood. Should be somewhat bourbon forward with notable barrel character behind the spirit. Beer may have thinned due to storage temp and mild vinous notes based on oxygen pickup during aging. Estimated bottle count...3500. Subject to change...

In short: A roasted, oaky and boozy big BA impy stout like so many others.
How: Bottle 22oz, 2010 vintage, thick black wax, consumed when over two years of age. Bottle sent to me by Grownfool, thanks a lot Brian.
The look: Black body topped by a very small tan head.
In long: Nose is medium-intensity barrels, roast, bakery chocolate and light coconut sensation. Taste is charred cereals, burnt black cake, chocolate chips cookies, lots of wood, a light vinous sensation. A bit too much alcohol presence considering 10% really isn’t that much for a beer like this. Sweetness sensation is medium at most which is nice. Astringent woody finish. Its chocolaty character was nice but the booze and woody astringency makes it a little less easy to drink than other entries in this series, took me a while to drink my bomber. Just another big Barrel Aged sipper, nothing new here, lots in a sea of similar beers. And to all beer store owners, this racial profiling has got to stop, just because I’m an adult Caucasian male you assume I’m ok with paying $30 for a bottle of beer, you might be right but it is still racial profiling.

Subdued aroma of milk chocolate, molasses, honey, roasted malt, hints of vanilla, and bourbon. Initial sweetness gives way to black coffee bitterness. Viscous and full-bodied, but very smooth and drinkable. Alcohol is well masked.

Bottle shared at the RateBeer Gallery event in SF. Pours blackish brown with a tan head. Tastes like all the other barrel-aged Eclipses, i.e. awesome, super sweet, full of chocolate and caramel. This one was a little heavy on the coconut notes though.

It pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up modest notes of dark roasted malts, chocolate, earthy chocolate malts and mild bourbon barrel notes. The taste has a pleasing richness to be sure with dark roasted malts, some sweet molasses, chocolate brownie and then a slightly tart bourbon barrel essence. This is rich and smooth and yummy.

Bottle thanks to Dave, black wax 2012 version. Pours a jet black color with a small beige head. A huge barrel nose of vanilla, chocolate and sugars. Lots of brown malty flavors, oak big barrel, vanilla, roast, loads of sugary dark fruity. Very good as are all of the eclipse brews.

Very dark brown, clear, beige head. Aroma of cocoa, dark bread crusts, nutty notes, raisins, moderate bourbon. Flavor: deep malt with dark bread (pumpernickel), dark fruit, nutty notes, cocoa, cola, great balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Split a 22oz bottle of the 2012 vintage three ways. Poured a dark black color with a dark tan head. Aroma was sweet malts - plenty of barrle notes - not as smooth as the other three I had that night. Plenty of whiskey notes - Evan Williams, some vanilla notes, roasted character. Wish it was just a touch more mellowed out.
