Big bourbon barrel aroma, oaky, soy sauce like with vanilla, caramel and ryebread. Not that super roasted or dark Imperial stout, more like a slightly roasted barley wine which seems to umph the bourbon barrel aging a ton, in this beer the bourbon barrel drives completely, even though it’s quite thin it, that didn’t seem to matter too much as it’s to me closer to a dark barley wine.

Black waxed 2013 bottle at catch 22 bottle share! Pours a deep black with thin ring of tan bubbly head. Aroma of big barrel notes, vanilla and whiskey, barely there roast notes. Taste follows, big on the barrel, smooth and sweet, chocolate hints. Very good.

22oz 2013 black wax capped bottle from Spirits Brick Blvd. Poured a great looking pitch black sollid body under a full thicker foamy dark beige head. Aroma/flavor is smooth for a big beer. Notes of whiskey, smooth chocolate, vanilla extract, dark fruit skins, char and barrel and a touch of vanilla pudding. Awesome big body that is full and creamy, milkshake like, with soft carbonation. Awesome beer.

2013 and served in BCBS snifter: Pours near opaque with a fading but still lasting frothy tan head and minimal lace some oily tears. Rich vanilla, marzipan, fig, and dark chocolate overtones along with moderate to light anise, roast, char, leather, tobacco, oak, hazelnut and even some smoke. This is amongst the lower roasted of the versions I have had, pretty darn sweet but not not tooth hurting. Love the mouthfeel, vinous and lush but still quite drinkable. Glad to try this now retired brew, yum!

Black with a good beige head. Aroma is liquorice, bourbon, wood, dark fruits. Full bodied, slightly slick mouthfeel, fantastic balance of roasty and sweet dark fruit. Taste is prunes, dates, liquorice,bourbon. Nice

2012 bottle share. Brilliant aroma of chocolate, espresso, vanilla, wood, raisin. Taste is excellently balanced candied sugar sweetness, with dark chocolate/coffee and woody bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel, smooth, and a perfect slightly dry finish.

Thx! to Mathieu87 & PriorL. 2010 Vintage. 650 ml. bottle sampled @ “Nog-een-half-jaar-tot-de-volgende-EBT”. Way, way better than the 3 other varieties I tried before this one. Blackish, mocha bubbles. Nose is thick chocolate, mocha, caramel, warming bourbon. Taste is thick chocolate, very creamy, vanilla bourbon, very thick & integrated. Coffee, very sweet, lots of milk chocolate. Rich body. Really surprised by this one.

NOSE: chocolate, coffee, whiskey.
TASTE: chocolate, bourbon, alcohol, bit chili in the aftertaste.

Good tan-cream head over black beer. Vanilla/Bourbon jumping out of the glass, sweet, luxurious, roasted. Sweet, Bourbon, vanilla, but also sweet ossewit(animal deepfrying fat, sweet). Roastiness is very low, for an Imperial Stout; Medium to well-bodied, utterly slick. Excellent, with some surprising touches, Todd.
