COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
4 versions of Eclipse this year. The lions share will go to Evan Williams Single Barrel. Barrels were 10-13 years old. These barrels were kept in an ambient temp storage situation. Approx 180 days in the wood. Should be somewhat bourbon forward with notable barrel character behind the spirit. Beer may have thinned due to storage temp and mild vinous notes based on oxygen pickup during aging. Estimated bottle count...3500. Subject to change...

Bottle cracked at mrhangover’s place at his epic Eclipse tasting. Pours very dark brown with a brown head. Aroma is heavy chocolate, some coffee, lots of bourbon, smooth and a buttload of vanilla. Taste is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Very smooth edition. Full bodied with thick texture and a chocolate finish.

2013 bomber, Bottle run 1 from Bay Ridge in Annapolis. Black wax. Pours black with a creamy khaki brown head into my Teku. Aroma has lots of whiskey barrel notes, subdued vanilla, dark fruits, roast molasses, honey, and a bit of chocolate. Very nice. Flavor is lots of molasses and bourbon with notes of dark raisins and chocolate, and hints of vanilla. There seems to be some wine-like notes with sharpness from the booze and barrel. It finishes with vanilla and leaves a dry oakiness on the palate. Feuit comes out more as it warms. The body is definitely on the thin side for a hefty stout, with low carbonation. While there could be more thickness to this, there is still plenty of flavor and I can see how having this on the thinner side could play well with tasting the different barrels. Overall a nice experience. Looking forward to my other 2 variants in the fridge.

On 06/18/2011. Bottle 2114/2010. No idea what the wax color was, but there can’t be many 2010 versions - if the brewery really wanted to distinguish, they’d put a different name on the label. Dark black body with a small frothy tan head. Sweet roast and chocolate aroma. Sweet chocolate and caramel flavor. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.

Ale Alpharetta December Meeting. My first experience of the Eclipse 50/50 series. Had side by side with the Rebel Yell version and this was .1 lower. Still awesome, but the cheaper (debatable) whiskey was a bit smoother in the finish. Black pour. Lots of chocolate, some coffee, great level of bourbon taste. Oaky, vanilla, awesome. Slick/full mouth. Great brew.

650ml bottle listed at 11.9%ABV pours black in color with a 2 finger light tan head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by bourbon with some dark fruits. Taste is dominated by bourbon some roasted grain bitterness and a malty sweetness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Unfortunately, the bourbon overpowers this brew and takes a few points off the score. Still, this brew is worth trying, but not at the $35 that I paid for this bottle. Even more unfortunate is that I have 5 more bottles to purchase at this price.
