4 versions of Eclipse this year. The lions share will go to Evan Williams Single Barrel. Barrels were 10-13 years old. These barrels were kept in an ambient temp storage situation. Approx 180 days in the wood. Should be somewhat bourbon forward with notable barrel character behind the spirit. Beer may have thinned due to storage temp and mild vinous notes based on oxygen pickup during aging. Estimated bottle count...3500. Subject to change...

11/X/13 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle @ De Hopduvel (Gent) - BB: na - BR1 2012 vintage (2013-940) Thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, some big bubbles, but no real head. Aroma: ripe banana when opening the bottle, caramel, sugary, hint of vanilla, bit dusty, alcohol, more dried fruits, some chocolate. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: bit sourish start, alcohol, unripe banana, dried cranberries, of course the obvious caramel, some vanilla, sweet but not sticky, almost lemony sourness. Aftertaste: sourish touch, making it very balanced, caramel, milk chocolate, soft bitterness, dry and sourish ending, very good stuff, oh my!

2010 vintage, thanks Oregonskibum! Pours black with a light brown head which rests down to a ring around the edge of the glass and a oily ring on the surface. Nose has bourbon, wood, slight alcohol and a lot of raisin. Taste has bourbon, dry dark chocolate, raisins, slight alcohol and a peppery/spicy note. Full body, low carbonation, Mouth feel is smooth at first, then dry. After taste is really long, dry/woody and bitter.
Very nice example of a well balanced barrel aged stout.

Bottle at Local Option, Chicago. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin very broken tan head and some broken lace. The aroma is rich roasted malt with some liqourice and boozy alcohol. The flavour is strong bitter with a big liqourice roasted malt coffee alcoholic whisky palate. Tastes stronger than the advertised 9.5% and the alcohol really dominates.

Bottle shared at Local Option, Chicago. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of whiskey, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, fudge and toffee. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter. The barrel aging overwhelms the base beer too heavily. Good, but not a great BA. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Pours an inky black with an off white head leaving decent lacing. Aromas of coffee chocolate and a touch of whiskey. Tastes of deliciousness, notes of chocolate, coffee, and a hint of the whiskey. Absolutely fantastic beer worth seeking out!

Just realized this was the one that slipped into the cart not knowing it was 30 bucks. Wish I would have this at a more sober time. Black and oil taste. Choclate and coffee taste. Good

Pour is black, with a thin reddish/brownish hue, with virtually no head. Aroma has plenty of coffee, some chocolate, dry wood, slight leather, roasted malts, perhaps some tart(?) - from the wood, and a whole lot of bourbon (nice). The taste starts with a looong and lingering sweetness, with a nice bitter and roasted notes finish. Medium/semi-full bodied, with the perfect amount of semi-flat carbonation, with a tickling sensation on the tongue.
