COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
4 versions of Eclipse this year. The lions share will go to Evan Williams Single Barrel. Barrels were 10-13 years old. These barrels were kept in an ambient temp storage situation. Approx 180 days in the wood. Should be somewhat bourbon forward with notable barrel character behind the spirit. Beer may have thinned due to storage temp and mild vinous notes based on oxygen pickup during aging. Estimated bottle count...3500. Subject to change...

It pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up modest notes of dark roasted malts, chocolate, earthy chocolate malts and mild bourbon barrel notes. The taste has a pleasing richness to be sure with dark roasted malts, some sweet molasses, chocolate brownie and then a slightly tart bourbon barrel essence. This is rich and smooth and yummy.

16.06.2014, 0,65l bottle (2012 vintage) @ BBGTC tasting:
Nice light brown creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is kind of mild and balanced at first, before the dry oaky touch cuts through, dark malts, caramel, cocoa, oak, ashes, whiskey, spices. Taste is slightly sweet, dark malts, caramel, dark sugar, mild sweet bourbon, oak, vanilla, whiskey, sour coffee, hints of dried dark fruits. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice.

Bottle, 22oz. 2012 vintage. An almost clear one, at least it looks so. Hard to tell actually, it’s really dark brown in color. A small, dark beige head sits on top. The aroma is roasted and lightly coffeeish, with a sugary spiced touch, some booze, dark chocolate and toffee. It’s full-bodied and warming on the palate, perhaps a bit sweet, and with a nice carbonation level. Roasted malts, caramel sugary malts, some bourbon and wood, a spiced hint and some licorice. Lasting finish. Nice indeed, a sipper well worth a try. 140616

Bottle (2012), shared with BBGTC feat. Yngwie and Meilby. Jet black body, small off-white head. Nose is dark chocolate, burnt sugar, coffee, licorice, mild bourbon woody tones, mild gunpowder-like smokey tones and hints of leather and alcohol. Taste is bourbon, wood, smokey coffee tones, caramel, alcohol, sweet licorice and hints of leather and Christmas spices. Medium to full body and carbonation. Highly pleasant and complex BA imperial stout, yummy stuff.

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, oak, vanilla, some spices, vinous, licorice and hint of molasses. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, vinous, chocolate and licorice finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Vintage 2013 (2/2013, cire noire).

Bottle shared by Jeffo at the CMLSG14 cellar tasting. Pours pitch black with a tiny light beige head. Nose is lots of boozy bourbon and a bit of vanilla. Lacks balance and depth.

Bomber bottle, vintages 2012 and 2013. Near black with tan head. 2013: Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, metal, rust and dried fruits. Taste is soft, boozy, vanilla, bourbon with a fairly sharp finish. 2012: Aroma is softer and more mature and has additional banana and solventy notes. Taste is way softer, adds some green apples, dark chocolate and more balanced. (score 6 4 6 4 14)

Bottle (22 oz). Vintage 2012. Shared by Jeffo, thanks! Black with a small brown head and some lacing. Aroms is of bourbon, coffee, alcohol, moderate sweetness (not overwhelming), vanilla and chocolate notes. Taste is moderately sweet with bourbon, roasted notes, caramel, chocolate, chocolate and light bitterness. Full body. Moderate carbonation. Sticky finish. Decent barrel-aged RIS. Some complexity. Well constructed, but nothing stand out. Balance isn’t bad.
