2011 Pours a nice dark color with a light tan fizzy head. Aroma is heavily bourbon with a nice roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla tones as well. Flavor is chocolate, bourbon, fruity, alcohol, roasted malt and wood. The finish is bitter alcoholic and doesn’t last too long. Mouthfeel smooth and carbonation is below average. This is an awesome beer.

2010 bottle, brief notes from Boonville. Pours a deep, dark cola-black color; dark-tan head with solid retention and lacing. Candied sweetness, cola, dried fruits, and warming alcohol. Light CO2; full body; layered dark chocolate, dark dried fruits, slightly forward alcohol (plenty of integrated warmth), plus plenty of sweetness that’s somewhat offset by the alcohol. Lasting finish of dark fruits, chocolate, and sweet caramel.

Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, roasted malt, bitter chocolate, carmel and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of oak, bourbon, dark chocolate, roasted malt and light vanilla with a smooth lingering chocolate finish.

22oz, red waxed bottle, #2266 from 2011. i’ve had this a couple times now and it’s been different every time. rating from this bottle...pours a touch thin and sits deep, dark brown in the glass with a thin, mocha head that leaves sheets of lace on the glass. aroma is great with big notes of dark chocolate, brownies, mocha coffee, and heavy bourbon backed by subtle notes of cinnamon, dark fruits, vanilla, and bit of toffee. flavor is where this version of eclipse really shines with big notes of roasted malts, burnt brownie ends, chocolate chip muffins, and black coffee backed by rich bourbon, brown sugar, vanilla beans, and hints of spice cake. palate is just a touch thinner than the big-boy imperial stouts, like most of the eclipse variations, with a long, lingering finish of warming bourbon. overall, a damn tasty brew.

Pours black with a thick brown head. The nose is big vanilla, tanned leather, some coffee, wood and ripe cherries. The taste is heavy sweet with low bitter. The texture is silky smooth and the body is huge with an equally big finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A - Dark black with a touch of brown and a finger of frothy khaki-chocolate head. Fades normal. S - Chocolate and dark caramel malts, molasses, Bourbon, vanilla, oak, black licorice, dark cocoa, coffee, booze. T - Sweet chocolate and caramel malts, Bourbon, vanilla, oak, molasses, coffee, black licorice, bitter dark cocoa, raisin and other dark fruits, and some booze. M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and a bit syrupy with a warming, sweet, and lightly spicy finish. D - Great barrel aged stout. The bourbon is very present, but balanced here.

Taken from notes - 660 ml bottle shared by Jeffo and Erik at Sloshfest 2012 - 6 in a row... My favourite, the most balanced of them all - still lots of bourbon in the nose but roastiness, vanilla, coconut, chocolate and some fruitiness are all there. Definite like!

22oz bottle, 2010 vintage, bottle #539. Pours a jet black color with a thin tan head. Aroma is lightly roasty, chocolate, licorice, some vanilla, maybe a little smokey. Medium to heavy on the palate with light carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, chocolate, vanilla, light bourbon, nutty, toast, with a smooth, light, bourbon finish. Very tasty, as with the other Eclipse variants I’ve tried.

Red wax, #2263, vintage 2011 bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Deep opaque brown/black body, thick light brown head. Nice caramely, round body, almost butterscotchy, sweet with alcohol notes. Strong and rich and an interesting vintage.

Bottle. The pour is dark with some head. The aroma has some subtle bourbon. The taste is amazingly smooth. One of the better bourbon beers I'be has lately. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
