3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. The pour is dark with some head. The aroma has some subtle bourbon. The taste is amazingly smooth. One of the better bourbon beers I'be has lately.

2011 vintage, bottle 1323
Pours a dark chestnut brown color that appears pitch black and opaque in the glass with a one finger beige head that slowly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Complex aroma with a strong barrel character that’s excellently integrated into the base beer mixing notes of toasted oak, peat whiskey, spicy bourbon and luscious chocolate malt. Slightly smokey with the bourbon, vanilla and wood notes countered by burnt toast, dark chocolate, fudge and bakers chocolate. Smells great!
Chewy full body with tight carbonation and a strong barrel presence that slightly overpowers the characteristics of the base beer. Smokey, dry and slightly acrid with a strong dry oak and peated whiskey presence that lingers over hints of vanilla, marshmallow, dark chocolate, burnt sugar, toast, toffee and oatmeal. Toward the finish there is some needed sweetness with dessert like chocolate cake/fudge flavor. Still, the oak and booze dominate the flavor with slight heatbin the finish. High ABV is relatively well masked making it easybto drink.

Really strange but great. Nose of canned vegetables, urine. Some flavour of bicycles tires, tobacco leaves, and cocoa nibs. Not as great.

Sample at SBWF. Nearly black pour with a beige head. Aroma is boozy chocolate with some bourbon and caramel. Flavour is lots of chocolate and a bit of a bourbon edge with some caramel, vanilla and oak. A touch boozy finish. Nicely balanced and tasty.

@ SBWF 2015: Fantastisk god med herligt rostade toner, vanilj och choklad - ändå ganska enkel

Black with a small tan head. Aroma of bourbon, some vanilla, oak and light fruit. Similar taste. Sweetish and with a fairly thick mouthfeel. Some warming alcohol in the finish. A solid one.

During the Wedding weekend, at the wedding night tasting. Thx H! Shared by all. Muddy dark brown pour. Very sweet nose, caramel, bourbon. Taste is super sweet; bourbon, caramel, some roast. Full bodied with alcohol. Finishes sweet and bourbony. Interesting flavor but cloyingly sweet. 14.4

Bomber to snifter (shared with the Mrs; thanks DuffMan). Bottle Run No. 2 / 2013, 11.9% abv. Looks good; a mostly opaque dull dark coffee black with ample foamy beige head. Smells solid; dark malt, chocolate, oak, and roast. Tastes like it smells, but richer with more of a chocolate presence, and a pleasantly smooth medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Dangerously drinkable; this drinks closer to 9% than almost 12%. Good stuff.
