pours black, like motor oil going into an oil pan. a quick fizz of some tan bubbles but dissipates as quick as it formed. has a nice a licorice presence, roasted malt, solid sweetness. silky body with an abrupt finish.

Deep brown color, chocolate colored head. This beer has more roasted malt and dry bitterness than I expected. Some good coffee and chocolate notes, but still a tad roastier than I would want.

Bottle at Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a viscus black with a medium tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roast malt and oak. Smooth, very full mouth feel with flavours of vanilla, dark fruit and molasses. Excellent of burnt malt, coffee and some bourbon.

Sample from a 22oz bottle, 2012 vintage. Very dark brown color. Thin khaki head. Couple dots of lace. Big dark chocolate, light coffee in the nose. Light vanilla. Bigger body, smooth, lighter carbonation. Great bigger chewy texture, more dry finish. Bigger bitter taste, light boozy warmth, not a bad amount. Kind of nice. Awesome vanilla bourbon, brownie, light spice finish. Lightly dry finish. Very tasty, chewy barrel-aged imperial stout.

Bottle shared by a friend for his birthday. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Nose consisting of whiskey, chocolate, caramel and some roast. Malty and chocolatey flavor with whiskey and vanilla before a bitter dark chocolate finish.

Thanks to Beer Savant for sharing 2012 vintage bottle during his 50th birthday bash. Brownish-black pour with a medium foamy tan head that recedes quickly. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky vanilla, bourbon and chocolate. The finish is oaky with a dark chocolate and dark fruit aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Poured into a snifter. "Steel Gray" wax so I presume this is the correct listing. 3.5 A: Black color. One finger of creamy beige head. Retention is average and a few whisps of lacing are left. 3.5 S: Smells good, but itís tame by Eclipse standards. Leathery, sweet bourbon with notes of coffee, roast, oak, and vanilla. Chocolate from the base, but not much else (as is always a complaint from me). Lightly boozy with a light solventy note, but smooth overall. 3.0 T: Like the nose, itís not bad, itís just tame. Chocolate from the base, but otherwise it doesnít do it for me. The bourbon is more mellow than almost all other variants Iíve had. Still, it has a nice complexity - leather, sweet raisin, roast, oak, vanilla, apple, and melon. 3.0 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Smooth, but too damn light (my other persistant complaint). 3.0 D: Not my favorite, but still worth a try if you are a fan of the brand. Serving type: bottle 12-23-2012 05:20:38

Bottle... This beer rocks!Ö Hazy dark brown pour with a small, fat-bubbled, lightly-tanned head. Decent retention. The bouquet is a blend of bourbon, caramel, fudge, black malts and vanilla. Medium to full-bodied and watery with gentle carbonation. The flavor is medium-sweet, offering black malt, brownies, fudge and whiskey. Finishes a touch boozy and mildly sweet! World class beer provided by a world class guy, 50belair!

Bottle. More chocolate in the nose. Unfortunately it taste like there is quite a bit of the Evan Williams (my least favorite treatment) in this blend. Still, I dig those those caramel malt, vanilla, oak, and dark roasted malts. Good body and mouthfeel. A very nice imperial stout...

Thanks Brad! Smooth, roasty, barrel character is nicely in check. Shows a level of refinement rarely seen in the Eclipse beers. Really good.
