COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This entry serves as the core listing for all Imperial Eclipse Stout vintages aged in rye barrels. These include:

2011 Vintage:
Rittenhouse Rye Version. (GREEN WAX w/ "2011")

2010 Vintage:
Rittenhouse Rye version. (GREEN WAX with "2010")

2009 Vintage:
Heaven Hill Rye version. (GREEN WAX with "2009")

Original batch was just 2009 Rye barrels sourced from Heaven Hill. For the 2010 release, Todd delved deeper with the barrel provider and found his barrels (and previous barrels) to all be Rittenhouse barrels. Hence, the alias.

neuromatt (1169) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 30, 2014
2012 vintage. 22 oz bottle courtesy of Greg, served in a stem glass. Pours deep black with a small tan head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves no lace. The nose has huge notes of vanilla, oak and molasses, along with chocolate and tobacco. The flavour is moderately sweet with huge bourbon notes, vanilla and molasses, along with chocolate and tobacco. The finish is long and toasty with vanilla and bourbon. On the palate it is full in body with a smooth, syrupy texture and almost no carbonation. Overall this is a beautiful imperial stout with very nice vanilla and bourbon notes. A delight. 2014-03-29

2011 bottle. Pours a dark brown with beige head that diminished to nothing. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and oak. Medium mouthfeel with sweet roast, dark fruits, chocolate, with nice sweet finish. Very impressive.

Bottle. Poured black color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark toasted chocolate malt, alcohol and vanilla wood aroma. Copious body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark toasted sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Another standout version.

Bomber to snifter (2012 Rittenhouse Rye vintage; shared by Tmoney99). Looks good; a cloudy chocolate with thin beige lacing. Smells solid; dark malt, chocolate, rye whiskey, and oak. Tastes like it smells with a pleasant mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

Bottle at City Beer, February 2014. Black with a small tan head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, caramel and some whisky. More whisky in the taste, also oak, light coffee and chocolate. A smooth one to drink. The aftertaste was long and with some warming alcohol. An excellent beer.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of rich black chocolates notes with light residual sugar notes and some rye whiskey notes with some bitter roasted malt. Taste is a mix between some bitter roasted malt with some rich black chocolate notes and some rye whiskey notes with a somewhat harsh finish. Body is full with nice creamy and oily texture with good carbonation and not much apparent alcohol notes. Very enjoyable but still a bit harsher than some of the other varieties.

Taste from a 22oz bottle with dark green wax. "2012" is written somewhere on the bottle. Near black color. Some dark red. Minimal khaki head. Rye whiskey, some molasses in the nose. Flavor is much better than the smell. Good brownie batter, light vanilla, Moderate sweet taste, light heat. Good rye whiskey barrel aged imperial stout. Nice, complex aroma to it. Good ba imperial stout.
