650ml bottle. Black pour. Manages a good head for a BA stout. Aroma is booze-soaked dark fruits, oak, wisps of chocolate. Taste is more helpings of chocolate and bourbon. Not as sweet as expected. Carbonation quite low and mouthfeel is on the thin side, but it helps drinkability. Seems to have mellowed nicely.

Three bottles shared with my brother-in-law this week. I bought the first one. He enjoyed the first one so much, he bought two more for us to share. Typical Eclipse appearance. Near black with an inch of lasting, tan head. Huge bourbon aroma, with honey sweetness, roast, chocolate. Delicious at first sip. Smooth on the palate. Honey and bourbon play so well together. Another nice addition to the Eclipse series. Expensive, but tasty.

Bottle at Mane Liquor Eclipse tasting. 2013 version. Pours dark brown with a sticky tan head. Nose is a lot ballsier than the previous Eclipse’s so far. Much more meaty with heavy earth and ash, milder honey, citric zest and dark fruits. Taste is aggressively ashy with brown sugar, dark fruits, stewed dark fruits, espresso bitterness and a walloping kick of heat to finish. It has this orange focus throughout which is odd. Perhaps a little green? Not that it doesn’t work. It’s a weird one that’s for sure. Not one of my favourites so far

Never had high west bourbon, but if this beer is any indication it’s not too shabby. Very well integrated barrel...not hot til near room temp, and even then only in the nose. Chocolatey as usual, with ample bourbon, raisins, vanilla and coffee notes. The body is slightly fuller and smoother than some of the thinner in this line."

2013 22 oz bottle. The pour is black. Beautiful with a medium khaki head and some decent clingy spotty lace. The aroma is great. Lots of bourbon. Great licorice, roast and wonderful bourbon barrel character. Roasted malt and marshmallow come through on the back end. The flavor is equally as great. It's a touch more bitter than the aroma would lead on, which I love. So good. A little sweet on the back end. The mouth feel is thick and viscous with a great level of carbonation a delightful lingering bourbony, roasty aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer pours an inky black color with a medium thick foamy tan head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, bourbon and vanilla. Full-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, oaky bourbon, vanilla and a bit of chocolate. The finish is moderately boozy with a bourbon and dark malt aftertaste. Good beer overall.
