Dark brown with some yeastiness. Bubbly head. Has a rich tarry character with a hint of peachy fruitiness. Has a chewy coffee richness with a tarry note. Nice complexity, and ultimately this has a really nice sugary sweet.

650ml bottle from Park Royal at Matt’s place. Pours a dark mahogany with a tan head. Aroma and taste are complex with vanilla, whiskey barrels notes, roasted and burnt malt. Burnt malt aftertaste. Very sophisticated, very well done and good balanced.

Tasting at Matt’s; vintage 2015
Black color, beige head. A good Imperial Stout, nice chocolate flavor, moderate sweetness, a bit spicy (is this the rye?), but also quite boozy.
Nice.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of rye whiskey notes upfront, followed by roast and a touch of smoke from the whiskey. Flavour is very complex, with whiskey barrels upfront, a bit of earthy rye, and roast. Wonderfully integrated, with excellent barrel quality. Really nice.

Comparative tasting of 9 different Eclipse Stout variants. All beers small to rather good yellow-beige rim over jet-black beer Bit of coffee, alcohol, vanilla, oak. Sweet vanilla flavour with black chocolate, the chocolate getting hotter and more obvious retronasal. Alcoholheat, full-bodied, alcoholthinning in the MF. Deceptively light impression, one to sip with caution.

Drank with Dennis Bell and Knick Knack. Nice aromas and flavors of wood, roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, raisin and Earth. I didn’t really notice the rye. Really good as usual.

Dark, beige foam, bit ofit. Aroma is sweet, chocolate cocoa, spiciness a way. Just a bit of booze. Dusty. Taste is surprisingly dry, vinous cherry sweetness but more cocoa, bit of vanilla and of course black bitter milk chocolate. This is good, nicely well-rounded and really enjoyable. Dry and dusty, roasted just right. I think I start to understand why Eclipse is so big thing. Close to perfect, again.
