4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to pint glass (BR/3 2012)
One of my birthday beers. It’s been sitting in the cellar for 2.5 years. Caramel, rye, soy, molasses, treacle, sour blackcurrant, vanilla, and honey. Black with a thin, creamy, light tan head. Taste is caramel, toasted malt, soy, dark chocolate, and late bourbon sweetness and some bitterness. Wow...this was worth the wait, I think. I imagine this was too hot a couple years ago, but it’s now well balanced.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
2012 gold wax. The roasty malt is dominant in this one with a touch of sweet bad booze. The bourbon and barrel really faded out on this one. Reminds me of how bourbon county starts getting after like 6 years, but accomplished that in half the time. Not really digging this one for the style, and especially bad or the price.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Gold waxed bottle and served in my new Modern Times snifter: Pours jet black with a lasting creamy beige head and very good lace. Rich roast, bakers chocolate, liquorice, molasses, raisin, light bourbon and vanilla along with a dash of earthy cowhide. Lightly biting along the edges to break up the lush sweetness. Still even after a few years this is a tad hot. I can dig it

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a black body with a large creamy light beige head. Nose is wood, vanilla, boozy nail polish remover-ish tones, corn, chocolate, grains, hints of coffee and licorice. Taste is dark chocolate, booze, coconut, peanuts, brown sugar, bourbon, hints of coffee, vanilla, leather, licorice and wood. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. The taste profile is fortunately a lot better than the aroma, but all in all this is the least impressive specimen of this series for me so far.
