#100 Imperial Stout Rating. 22 oz bomber shared at a tasting by beer4bill. Blue Wax, 2012 version. The pour is slight haze black, brown, reddish with a thin off white head. The aroma is dark chocolate, booze, bourbon barrel and licorice in the back. The taste is cocoa sweet malt, hot bourbon barrel, residual booze and dark chocolate in the finish. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, soft carbonation and the chalky boozy cocoa finish. Not exactly my personal taste preference, but a well executed Bourbon barrel imperial stout. Thanks for sharing Bill.

Bottle, courtesy of a kind soul... shared in a location remote of my dining room.
2012 I reckon’

The beer pours basically black with small head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is roasty and sweet it’s got a good dosing of vanilla with a little licorice. It’s pretty boozy but it’s also very pleasantly bourbon forward with a bunch of chocolate and some caramel, so it works in the way that sweet-on-booze-on-roast thing seems to work.

The beer is indeed awfully sweet & plenty bourbon forward. It’s got a nice bitter dark chocolate flavor that lends some balance but it’s got a good bit of vanilla as well. There is a sort of distinct corny on vanillin bourbon thing happening that’s cool and works nicely in the mix.

I think this is the first one of these "Eclipse" beers I’ve had, I dig it and would pete more of them in time.

650 ml bottle thanks to an awesome vertical to Adam Jackson. Pitch black color, thin head in my BCBS snifter. Aroma is dark chocolate, wheat bourbon, vanilla and rye malt .

Body is rich and creamy with weak carbonation level. Bourbon is mild and smooth. Nice Bourbon up front followed by vanilla, oak, molasses, coffee dregs and bitter dark cocoa. Almost a rye wheat character. Nice, drink it now if you got it because light note of oxidation.

2012 Bottle, pitch black, minimal head. Nose is very roasty, a touch of cinnamon and oreo cookies. nice chocolate creaminess. The taste is mellowed given the age but it’s a touch spicy, pretty clean with some caramelized sugar and on a heavy mouth swish, you get a lot of cinnamon and graham cracker cookie dough.

Bottle from Market of Choice, Eugene. Pours a dark, thin brown-black, coffee-like. Nose thin and sweet, with pleasant caramel, oak and toffee notes. Body thin and a bit slippery, finish round with a nice balance between brown sugar, oak, toffee and milk chocolate, very little warming, quite nice but the price is probably an object for re-loading on this one.

Black color with a beige head (surprise surprise). Mellow and lovely aroma with oak, chocolate and vanilla. Medium plus body. Maybe a bit fizzy carbonation that destroys the flavor. Anyway a tasty cracker. Oak, licorice, chocolate and coffee. Power sipper. Blue wax.

Bottle at USA comes to Göteborg 2014. Opaque black beer with a small but lasting beige head. Roasted chocolate aroma, coffee, cocoa, vanilla, woody, raisins, figs, plums, some cream, bourbon, some raisins, and figs. Raisin and fig flavor, caramel, vanilla, whiskey, cream, coffee notes, licorice, chocolate, spicy notes, coffee, some cocoa powder. Another great Eclipse, I dont see how they could possibly fail with this base in a beer.
