Sampled at the brewery. Very fruity nose, guava, citrusy, very pleasant nose, soft bready malts, firm bitterness, a bit to resinous to be easy drinking. Very tasty overall.

A hazy amber red ale with a thin lacing off white head. Aroma of British and American hops, grassy, and fresh grains. In mouth, a good oily malt with c-hops, herbal, pinhey and pleasant. Rich and smooth. On tap at brewpub August 19, 2009.

Draft @ FiftyFifty. Pours a murky, brownish-bronze color; huge, creamy off-white head with gorgeous retention, lacing that coats the glass; beautiful. Goes downhill at the nose: lots of tea, intense nougaty sweetness (syrup), and sweet caramel; earthy hoppiness takes backseat. Full, chewy mouthfeel: relaxed carbonation; tea, chewy caramel and malty sweetness, with a balancing earthy and fruity hoppiness; overly sweet, sticky, lots of candy sugar. Hard to drink a lot of this. Lasting finish: strikes a balance of sorts at the end; lingering candy sugar stickiness, overt earthy bitterness. For how good this looks, very disappointing.

Draught at the brewpub. Hazy amber-brown with a sticky head. Lots of hops in the aroma with mainly pine and grapefruit. Sweet as well. The flavor has pine and bitter grapefruit juice with a malty and somewhat sweet body giving way to a spicy finish. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Plenty of malt, but still mainly leaning on juicy and resinous hop flavors and bitterness. Properly bitter without being harsh. A very pleasant beer to drink.

Hazy sun tea orange with a well retained light beige head. Resiny citrus and herbal hops dominate the earthy sweet caramel backbone. Flavor has a lot of sweet orange citrus hops that blend well with the caramel, and I actually do taste a little tea as well. Dry finish with bitterness @ a 6-7 at the back corners of my tongue. Smooth full body with the alcohol masked very well. I thought this was pretty good, and more akin to DIPAs back home (not West Coast), as I understand the brewer was from Flossmoor--makes sense..

Tap @ brewery. Dark, honey-colored body topped with a big head leaving lots of lace, looks great. Medium-full body with foamy carbonation for a nice finish. Almost no aroma, honey and hops--hard to smell. Sugary malts on flavor with light hops, mostly pine. Could definitely use the dry-hopping and the flavorful zip of the rockslide, then this would be awesome. It’s got body and looks, but the flavor//aroma just aren’t strong enough.

Tasted on tap at the Bistro Double IPA Festival on 2/7/2009. This Imperial IPA pours a slightly cloudy orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is orange peel, floral, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are cirrusy and floral. Lots of orange peel and orange flavors in this one. Good carbonation. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
