COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Baltic Porter aged in French Oak that did three turns of Cab Sauv from a well known California winery in Napa Valley. Barrels were somewhat neutral so French Oak Heavy Toast spirals added to barrels about 4 months and remained till barrels were emptied. Spirals soaked in Cab Sauv for 48 hours before being placed in barrels.

First in a series of wine barrel experiments for FiftyFifty.

Served in a SAVOR snifter. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head and a bit of lacing. The nose has some roast and a touch of chocolate. Very, very mild oak and wine character, though I honestly canít say I would have picked it out if I didnít know. A bit more of that in the flavor. Roasty with touch of chocolate and light oak and wine. Body is medium with good carbonation. Pretty good with no flaws, but not something Iíd seek out again.

22oz bomber pour courtesy of cmillward or popery, canít remember which one, thanks guys. It pours mahogany with brown edges and tan head. The aroma has interesting notes with sweet apple like notes flowing into spicy black licorice and then some red wine tart notes. The taste has tart red wine notes, some dark roasted malts and a bit of black licorice that bleeds into a touch of chocolate malts. This is kind of on the tart side and ends rather dry. Hmm.

(22oz bomber) dark brown with ring of fine tan bubbles. Nose of French oak, chocolate malt, pretty rich. Taste is really oaky, very mild vinous notes, very toasty, chocolate malt, odd earthy component, just super tannic and way too much wood ester influence. Dry, oaky finish thatís just piney. Disappointing.

22oz bottle thanks to MrChopin: Pours a mostly opaque dark mahogany with a thin, spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a lightly sweet dark caramel and milk chocolate nose with a touch of vinous complexity. Starts fairly thin for the style with only a faint sweetness and vinous tart fruitiness before a drier finish. Definitely needs more body.

651mL thanks to MrChopin. Pours near black, hazy, with a medium tan head. Webby lace. Nose is red wine, saltwater, small bourbon, dark chocolate. Taste is bitter dark chocolate, assert tangy cherry juice, mild lactic sourness. Lemon tea and citric sourness. Quick, quenching palate. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
