Bottle shared at GBBF 2013. Thanks, gents! Pours black-brown with a frothy beige head. Moderate roast in the aroma with notes of burnt marshmallows and chocolate. Medium sweet flavour with dry chocolate, soft roast, earth, milk chocolate. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with mellow dark fruits and more milk chocolate. Good stuff.

Bottle bought. This is the one that didnt blow up. Huge light brown head. Deep dark black color. Nose is full of dark chocolate. Taste is slightly tart. Astringent. Lots of alcohol burn and a slight acidity lasts. Not happy.

Opaque black - brown beer, good tan head. Palate is airy and smooth. Just a little fine carbonation. Itís a light touch with the dark malts. A little roast and cream. Whispers of dark fruits and coffee. Light semi dry finish. Quite a light and simple Imperial Stout.

A- pours an opaque cola brown with mahogany edges. Head is a light red tan, on the thin side and dissipates quickly before clinging to the edge of the glass. Lacing is decent. S- chocolate, dirt, coffee, roasted malts, and some mustiness. Soy sauce as it warms. Standard aromas. M- thin but medium body with an oily medium palate. Good carbonation. T- chocolate, cacao, coffee to start. Watery in the middle with some earth. Hops, grass and bitter chocolate on the medium ending.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar SF. Dark black with a thin brown head. Aroma promises bakerís chocolate and the taste is loaded with waves of cocoa. Nice oily mouthfeel. Decent overall but not exceptional, lacking some of the complexity and brute force of other imperial stouts. It would be interesting to see how a barrel (supposedly) transforms it.

Beese (1152) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - SEP 5, 2013
Bottle at Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a black black with a medium tan head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa and coffee. Quite powerful carbonation and a slightly more watery mouth feel than I would hope for in an Imperial Stout. Flavours of roasted malt, berries, chocolate and some sharp citrus notes. Ends with nice burnt malts and espresso.
