Medium sweet flavour with dry chocolate, soft roast, earth, milk chocolate. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with mellow dark fruits and more milk chocolate. Bottle bought. This is the one that didnt blow up. Huge light brown head. Deep dark black color. Nose is full of dark chocolate. Taste is slightly tart. Astringent. Lots of alcohol burn and a slight acidity lasts. Not happy.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Mikkeller Bar SF. Dark black with a thin brown head. Aroma promises bakerís chocolate and the taste is loaded with waves of cocoa. Nice oily mouthfeel. Decent overall but not exceptional, lacking some of the complexity and brute force of other imperial stouts. It would be interesting to see how a barrel (supposedly) transforms it.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Great British Beer Festival 2013.
Poured a black black with a medium tan head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa and coffee. Quite powerful carbonation and a slightly more watery mouth feel than I would hope for in an Imperial Stout. Flavours of roasted malt, berries, chocolate and some sharp citrus notes. Ends with nice burnt malts and espresso.
