Dansk Red (Danish Red) is inspired by the red lagers of Denmark and the signature red color in the Danish flag. This quality beer is crafted with a blend of European base malt and sweet caramel malt, creating a beautiful red hue.

Poured from a bomber a Stonehouse. First time trying a Vienna Lager. I liked the sweetness of it and the touch of sourness.

Bottle from World Market. Reddish cola color upon pouring. Sweet malty nose. Some breadiness and a hint of dark fruit. Sweet and malty up front with a decent little hop kick in the back end. Pretty good.

Read some of the previous deScriptions and surprised to see how many people don’t know this style of beer. I am at a beer pairing now and the Cicerone described the Vienna Style lager perfectly. Malty, slightly breaded, with a slight roast. This beer is not supposed to be complex. I was impressed.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: 0.5l mug From: World Market in Las Mesa (San Diego), Calif. Price: $1.99 Purchased: Aug. 1, 2013 Consumed: Aug. 3, 2013 Misc.: N/A Poured a dark copper red murky color with 1-to-2 fingers of white head. Minimal lacing on the sides of the glass. Above average retention on the top all the way down. Smelled caramel malts, rye notes, iced tea, dates, skunky broccoli and faint vomit. Tasted much better than the smell. Very malty. Also got caramel malts, rye notes, dates and some toasty bread. Medium-to-light body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Soft carbonation. Long finish. Was hoping for a bit more, but I wasn’t terribly happy about this beer. Definitely decent for the style, but that’s it.

26 July 2013, tap at Figueroa Mtn. Brewery. Light orange, clear, no bubbles. Nose is lots of straw. Thin body and moderately fizzy. Pasted cereal malt and slightly lemon bitterness. Ok. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle; poured a dark orange/amber color with a khaki head. Aroma of fruits, earth, some sweetness, caramel and cookies. Flavor had a solid sessionable quality. Fruity and bready throughout, a touch of sweetness and earth. Nothing remarkable, but enjoyable enough.

650ml (22oz) bottle. Short-lasting red dirty white sandy head over slightly hazy amber body with lots of distinct effervescent bubbles disappearing at the nearly headless top. Lacing is frosty for a few seconds. Aroma is a fairly commercial cereal malt and fresh but otherwise unimpressive. Taste is light sweetness, medium bitterness, with a hint of umami satisfaction. It is adequate but not compelling. Body is a bit full and light oily or heavy creamy in the mouth with a clean finish except for lingering bitterness in the back of the mouth. It is a low-abv red lager that I would not avoid and can recommend for sharing but would not want to drink a second in one night in lieu of any other good lager.
