4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a clear, medium brown color with a quickly attenuating, even. The aroma consists of dark roasted malt, notes of chocolate, and coffee acidity. The mouthfeel is magnificent. Perfect balance between the carbonation and creaminess perfectly accentuate the woody chocolate, ripe, dark fruit, and coffee acidity flavors. Neil loves this beer. So do I.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours clear brown with a small tan head and some residual lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, tobacco, a touch of cocoa, and cardboard notes. Flavor is the same with a light citrus bitterness and light roasty sweetness. Medium body, lightly astringent. Interesting.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2013 Pour from Bomber. Pours a light brown with a small tan head which fades to light lacing. Aroma is nutty and also includes some lightly roasted malts, caramel, coffee, and molasses notes. Taste is similar with a lot nut and toast character but also some nice coffee and molasses notes, plus some mild hop bitterness. Has a medium body with a well carbonated but still creamy mouthfeel and a semi bitter, nutty finish. Overall, a tasty brown that makes me want to try other beers from this relatively new brewer.

Type: 22-oz. bottle
Glass: Pint glass
From: BevMo in Goleta, Calif.
Misc.: Had on Dec. 24, 2012
Nutty brown color with 1-2 fingers of tan head. Average lacing on the sides, wet and foamy. Better retention.
Smelled chocolate, Cascade hops, caramel, toffee and lots of bitterness.
Tasted dark chocolate, regular chocolate, toffee and caramel, backed my Cascade hops.
Medium body. Creamy texture. Above average carbonation. Long, smooth finish.
A pretty good debut (for me) by Figueroa. I love the brown ale and hoppy mixes. Try it.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep chestnut and mahogany pour with a small eggshell head that left very little in terms of lacing. Aroma is muted. Roasted malt, nuttiness, and a hint of caramel. Flavor is so much better than its nose. Cocoa, light coffee notes, almond and cashew, char, and vanilla. Moderate mouthfeel and mild alcohol...easy drinkin’. Solid.

This is pretty good. A creamy brown ale with a bit of hops to the body. Light finish. A solid introduction for me to these guys.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer poured a very light brown with red hues on the sides of the glass and 1/2 finger of a khaki colored head. The aroma was slightly muted and consisted of toasted malt. Davy Brown is true to the style and the flavors were of toasted malt, nuttiness and was very smooth.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Phenomenally surprising brown ale (!) full of body, depth and taste. Malt and caramel and a really husky, robust backbone make for something a lot more special than most brown ales I’ve come across.
Beautiful label, too.
