3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer poured a very light brown with red hues on the sides of the glass and 1/2 finger of a khaki colored head. The aroma was slightly muted and consisted of toasted malt. Davy Brown is true to the style and the flavors were of toasted malt, nuttiness and was very smooth.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours a medium brown color with a light caramel malt flavor. Taste is clean but watery. A simple beer that was well balanced but lacking in complexity. A small sweetness to the beer, with an easy bitter aftertaste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy reddish brown pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, cocoa, earth into a bit of yeasty spice, slight grass. Taste was a mix of grass, earth, toasted bread into some cocoa, slight caramel, hints of red fruit, finishing slightly sweet, dry.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep brown color. Nice caramel and toasted malt notes. Seems to be more like a porter than a regular brown ale, but a very tasty one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Cato’s Alehouse. It pours a deep reddish brown color with a khaki head. The aroma is nice and toasty with some chocolate and nuts. The flavor is nutty and toasted with strong earthy, menthol and spicy hop character. Medium/strong bitter finish. The malts work really well with the hop varieties and usage. This is a West Coast Brown Ale I can get behind. Really tasty.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 The bouquet of this scrumptious brown ale delivers on all fronts. Very Nutella with elements of roasted nuts and cocoa powder. Chocolate and toast on the palate, but crisp and exciting, not dense or weighty. Great stuff! ---- http://instagram.com/pintofbitter
