Hoppy Poppy IPA is identified by its intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. The brilliant appearance and dry texture of this IPA is reminiscent of a fine Santa Ynez Valley chardonnay and is the Master Brewer’s favorite vintage.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours clear golden with a white head and a floral aroma. There is a hearty pale malt flavor with a dry nicely bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Fairly straightforward single IPA. Nice hop presence, mild pineapple fruit, and a good bitter finish.

No problems with this beer (at all) but I think it struggles to differentiate from the sea of Cali modern IPA. Powerful style with resin hops and good weight from the malts. Thankfully drier than expected.

Keg at Big Sur Taphouse, 30/04/14. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white covering that retains well. Nose is orange, light pine, toasted malt, lemon rind, floral notes. Taste comprises orange squash, light grapefruit, straw, pretty muted all round. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light hop bitterness. So so IPA, went down well on a roof terrace on a 27 degrees + scorcher of a day but ultimately lacked all my musts for an IPA - hops, bitterness and citricana presence.

Bottle. A yellow golden color with a white head. An earth malty hop aroma with with a nicely smooth balanced flavor with a touch of sweetness at the finish.

Pours a medium copper color with a finger of eggshell foam. Lots of round citrus, some hints of tropical fruit, floral honey... interesting texture, touch of nutty malt backbone, lingering full mouthfeel and bitter citrus rind. Intresting brew.

12 oz. bottle. It pours a nice clear golden color with a white head. The aroma is floral and piney with some background citrus and caramel malt. The flavor is very floral hoppy with some grapefruit and a good dose of caramel malt. A little too much for my tastes, but still subdued compared to others. It has a medium body and finishes dry and bitter with some mild fruitiness. A very competent IPA, but my least favorite so far from this brewer.

Pours golden copper with a little haze. Thick head that dissipates slowly. Smooth, light body. Nice aroma of citrus, poppy, hop bitterness and some carmel malt sweetness. Very drinkable , smooth and balanced.

Bottle shared with Bill, pours clearish copper with thick and lasting head. Aromas and flavor are bitter hops, malt, poppy, and tangerine. Easy going, but not that memorable. Needs more hops and less malt.
