Hoppy Poppy IPA is identified by its intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. The brilliant appearance and dry texture of this IPA is reminiscent of a fine Santa Ynez Valley chardonnay and is the Master Brewer’s favorite vintage.

22 oz bomber from whole foods santa barbara. this beer was everywhere on tap during my week in santa barbara, which makes sense because the brewery is in a nearby town, in the santa ynez valley. i would give this beer’s name a "5" but unfortunately names are not on the rating system. perhaps they should be added? there is so much competition by good ipa’s in california that it is easy to give this beer a "good but not great" rating, which is what i give it. that is not to say that this is not a nice hoppy citrusy ale, because it is. a very "drinkable" ipa. very dry, as others have noted.

Draft. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of straw, malt, and hops, as wellas a bit of fruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, fruits, and spicy hops, leading to a bitter finish.

On the wine/beer tour with Patty, Andy and Kara. This IPA has a light aroma of sweet pine and an amber color with a persistent lacing. The hoppy bitterness is gentle and not over powering. The medium body feels good on the tongue. This is a light, drinkable IPA.

4oz sampler @ VCBW 2016- Day 2, last beer of the day (#14 for the day, #27 of the week). Bright, sweeter and maltier than your average IPA. Clean finish, slightly short length, some citrus. Solid

On tap at VCBW Festival 2016, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out some dank piney hops, a little herbal pot-like quality and biscuity malt. Flavour tastes rather earthy and vegetal, with a herbal hop quality, earthiness and biscuity malt. Not the most impressive IPA out there, but it’s decent. Lacking cohesion.

Figueroa has a pretty nice range of IPAs. I would consider this more of a session IPA compared to their others. Good hops in the nose and body. A little bite. It’s good.

Floral overtones to the characteristic IPA citrus aroma. Deep amber in color with lacy but quickly dissipating head. Dry taste profile and not particularly bitter. Body is light. Lacks the more full-bodied feel of most IPAs.

Bottle in Encinitas. Pours copper, resinous, medium bitterness, mandarin, lots of caramel malt taste. Good but not great.

Really forward hop flavor. Finish is pretty bitter at first, but it quickly dissipates. Pretty nice IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Big Sky restaurant in San Luis. Fat fruity nose. Thin copper color. Tangy, with citrus. A big fruity jum in mid palate, peach, some caramel, and moderate bitter track. Pleasant stuff.

12 oz bottle at Shutters on the Beach. Orange appearance with a frothy white head. Notes of toasted grain, grass, citrus fruit and pine in the nose. Similar flavor, moderately bitter with a light dry finish. Solid IPA overall.
